Polished wheels - unfinished

Hello everyone,

I had a job over the weekend with a truck that had custom polished rims. It was badly stained (not rust) from I really don't know what but could not get it to shine as I normally do. I've never had to use any acid as I understand it's not good for the rim. Can anyone share some products out there I may use to solve my unfinished work? Do I need to use an acid product this time around to get it clean? I usually use No.7 Chome Polish by Cyclo Industries. Anyone please help! Thanks in advance!

I've had good luck with Meguiar's NXT Metal Polish and a cotton buffing wheel drill attachment. If the wheels are already polished NXT is good. If you need more aggressiveness, try Simichrome, Mother's aluminum polish, or Wenol.

Mothers Aluminum polish does well also. If you use a power tool to do the polishing, just make sure to tape off any parts of the wheel that are not meant to be polished. You wouldn't want to slip and accidentially polish a part of the wheel that is painted or has a matt finish.

Well, there are many good metal polishes on the market. In the past, I've had extremely good success with the polishes from: http://www.heavymetalpolish.com However, yesterday, I had a chance to try a sample of some stuff on the Stainless exhaust tip on my 4Runner, and on some Borla Stainless steel tips. The stuff is called Showman's Ultra Fine Polish from a company called English Custom Polish: http://www.englishcustompolishing.com/

The Showmans stuff is "amazing" and it looks like it might become my new "fav". ( little more testing required ) They claim that they make the "Best Metal Polishes in the world"......... and after yesterday, I'm sure not going to argue! :D Of course, I plan on trying a couple more of their products ( Metal Restorer and General Purpose Metal Polish )

The sample I recieved was a small sample from a friend "across the pond", and it didn't have any label or directions. When I emailed these folks, a gentlemen responded in about an hour with the application/removal directions............ I like that! :bigups

Anyhow, there's a couple more options.
