Polished residuel

I am using a polisher to polished my car. Question? After I polish with my PC, should there be any polished left on the car that I have to use my MF towel to wipe it off? Or should there be nothing left? I put polish on the car and spray a little water on my pad. I'm not sure if I put too much water or not. Thanks

u're always gonna have to wipe off a product. the idea with polish is that u wanna work it in until its almost transperant but definately not completely removed. polishing a surface with very little lubrication cause friction which is somethign u dont want on u're paint.. just wait until it looks thing enough to still see and then remove. if u have some trouble use a lil dq to rmeove.

goodluck,

The water might be gumming up the polish on the car and the pad, that's my guess. I would drop that and go with straight polish

You should see a lite haze from the polish but not alot if you are working the product into the paint. Then remove the residue with a MF towel.

Are you recommending I don't use water on the pad at all. Because If I don't use water, it will be very dry to polish.

Someone may say different but I have never used water with polish on my cars. The product seems to be wet enough for me you want to heat the product up. This will get the reaction on the surface to the clear coat that gives it the cutting power that you are looking for.

Most of the polishes I use don't state in the directions to wet the pad with water. I think Poorboy even says it will gum up the pads and make his polishes more difficult to use. I would suggest going by the manufacturer directions printed on the label. If it doesn't say to wet the pad, then don't wet the pad.

i think that the idea of misting qd or water on a pad is good for waxes and sealants. misting qd or water on polish never made much sicne sicne polishes have oil if not lubricants that adding water to them may lubricate it too much giving u a wet surface and pad while the abrasives/lubricants/oils broke down long ago, making micromarring a bigger risk. polishing without qd or water allows the abrasives in the polish to fully penetrate the paint and give intended results.
