Polished home made tips

I made these exhaust tips from 316L SS pipe and turned them on a lathe. Polishing was done with emery cloth down to jewelers rouge and the final steps were the Menzerna Twins with a PC and topped with AIO and SG X 4.

They will be welded onto the SS exhaust on my B5.5

Aio and SG really made a difference in the end.

I just use Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish on my SS tips. I think the hot exhaust gases will cook off the acrylic in no time.....

Good point .. thats why I applied AIO/SG to my stove chrome rings as a test.. holding up good there so far. But in r/l the stove doesn't have sustained temps like a road trip.

One thing, and I attribute it to the tips being 316L, was pointed out to me at a car show one day is that the exhaust carbon doesn't even stick to the insides.

One of the judges asked me how I polished the inside to keep them clean. I looked at him with this dumb look... then he told me out of the 270 cars there mine was the only one with a clean " inside " exhaust pipe.

Jesstzn: Good tip! I have such a problem with that... The carbon is a problem (yes my car is in good running order, this is just normal for VTEC) and hopefully this will help it out alot so I won't have to wipe the tip down each day :) .
