Polished and 8 layers of Zaino on an Elise

So, I just recently acquired Zaino z2 pro, z5, z6, z8, and the zfx accelerator. I was eager to try everything out and so the first car that I used the entire system on was a beautiful Krypton green Lotus Elise, which was in for winter prep. I offered to do a 6 layer package on top of a proper polishing to remove the fine scratches and swirls in the paint, simply because somewhere I read that the Zaino line starts to truly show it's unique properties in terms of overall appearance after the 5th coat. Unfortunately, my worklights went out after I started to take before/after pictures of my polishing process, and I have yet to see a sunny sky around here, so all I have is one set of before/after shots of polishing. Tomorrow calls for a mostly sunny day...let's hope I can get some sun shots of this beauty. So, here was my process:

Day 1:

-wash

-clay

Day 2:

-Paint was polished using an Ultimate Detailing Machine and a 3-inch, Sonus light-cut pad with Menzerna Super Intensive Polish

-70% isopropl alcohol wipedown

-z6

Day 3:

-zfx'ed z5 twice, each layer removed with z6

-one layer of zfx'ed z2 pro, removed with z6

-each layer must be buffed-off after at least a half an hour...I let the layers sit for about an hour since the temperatures were about 45-50 degrees in the garage. So, I cleaned-up the interior

-Zaino recommends 3 layers of zfx'ed sealant per day, with a 24 hour cure time after that, so on Christmas day the car receieved only a layer of z8, which really ampted-up the gloss and slickness of the paint.

Day 3:

-zfx'ed z2 pro three times, each layer removed with z6

-a few hours after, one layer of z8

-Starshield edges cleaned using Meguire's Clear Plastic Cleaner

-Black trim surrounding windows recieved Natty's Paste Wax

-Gills and Starshield recieved Duragloss Aquawax

-wheels received Klasse AIO and tires recieved Meguire's Endurance gel

And the pictures after all was said and done:

After polishing, before any sealant applied:

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Finally we had some decent sunshine. Still it was only a hazy sun, but the paint still looked awesome. Enjoy the pics:

WOW that is some color . I´l bet police can see you before you start the engine . Great work on the paint .

Cheers , Jean Paul

Interestingly, the owner tells me he has yet to get pulled-over, and he usually follows the flow of speeding NJ traffic.

Looks great! Six layers? That's a lot of work. Two to three layers of Ultima PGP will give you amazing results.

As will two to three coats of Zaino. Like Ultima, it only gets better with each coat. That said, why do you show up on every post and shill ultima on every thread you post on?

The Lotus looks amazing.

Looks great! I always loved the lotus, such a cool body style, and I love the all black wheel thing. It leaves more room for paint to do it's thing.

Relax dude, what is it with you and your continued passive aggressive attacks on my posts? . I just like the product. I love Zaino as well, and I also use it, but now I use Ultima more because IMO, it is a lot easier to apply and gives great results. In addition, to say that I mention the product "on every thread" is an exaggeration. Out of 86 posts, I have recommended Ultima in may be 3 or 4 posts (maybe you can go through every single one and get the exact number). There are certainly other people here who have recommended and/or praised Ultima a lot more than I have, but you seem to be taking my posts very personal. Just take it easy and keep enjoying this forum. I have seen the pics of your work on this forum and you obviously know what you are doing as the results are amazing and I have been very impressed, but for those of us who are just enthusiasts, let us just give our opinions and recommendations and engage in civil discussions about products and techniques and let us enjoy this forum.

Hey guys!

This is not a personal attack forum.

I like the Ultima stuff too. I push it when I can because I like to see others have the same great experience I have had with Ultima. However I gotta say there are plenty of great Ultima competitors out there. Some may well be better. I think it probably depends on lots of variables. Paint, color, temperature, humidity, persinal tastes, etc. Zaino is another amazing product. Hard to have anything much negative to say about their products either.

Just have fun in here and help out where you can. No reason to point fingers or defend a position in a negative fashion. If somebody is annoying you, send them a VERY carefully thought out and polite PM and keep that silly stuff outta the threads.

Thank you KnuckleBuckett, I completely agree with you. Happy detailing!

Hello everyone. I was able to see this Elise yesterday after a rain shower and I decided to take pictures of the beading, which still seemed very strong. Keep in mind that the car was detailed during Christmas, and nothing else was put on the car. The car wash soap used wasn't even Zaino. I am thoroughly impressed with the overall package for overall durability. The paint wasn't that slick though (it was a bit dirty too), but at least after a quick drive the car looked completely dry. I look foward to trying these other products mentioned as well. Please enjoy the pictures.
