polish/Waxing your car the day after wash?

I am in the process of polishing my car. It's outside right now and i am 70% done polishing it. Would it be OK to finish polishing it tomorrow morning without washing it again? It is not supposed to rain or anything and I do not plan on driving the car at all until tomorrow night. I am not sure about this so enlighten me!

Wash, its going to get covered in dust from the wind and cars driving by. Why spoil your work with something that takes an extra 20 minutes.
