Polish / Swirl Remover Application

I am very new to this. I detailed my 95 Millenia as my first experiment before tackeling my new Murano.

I found applying the Swirl Remover/Polish was easier to do with a separate foam pad sreading it evenly over say 1/4 of the hood instead of using the PC pad to spread the product. Is there any harm doing this? I got what I thought were good results. I just went right into 5.5 on the PC an made about 4 medium slow overlapping passes and it seamed to be fully broken down.

Any comments?
 
I use the pad on the PC to tap it everywhere im going to buff right after then i use the PC on 1 to get it all over then crank it up to the speed i want. Just eliminates the other pad that you have to get dirty.
