polish question

my paint is in pretty good shape (to me), my regimen is:

wash/dry, aio then wg sealant. i have some light swirls and am going to buy a pc. my car has never been polished with anything except aio. ive done several searches and came up with this new regimen:



wash/clay/Mazerna fp/aio/wg sealant.



my questions are: will the FP be abrasive enough to get rid of the swirls or should i use IP before FP? how often should i polish; IP/FP? thanks
 
IMO FPII with PC doesnt do too much for swirls. I would recommend that get both Menzerna IP and FPII. You could try the FPII with a light cut or polish pad to see if the swirls get knocked out. If it doesnt work then you will have to use IP with light cut pad. Remember to always try to use the less aggressive method to get the job done first. The rest of your process looks just fine.



If you take care of your washing techniques (not introducing more swirls or marring) then you could prolly get away with just polishing maybe once or twice a year. IP is abrasive but it isnt dangerously aggresive.

Yep, get them both. The "how often?" answer is "whenever it has marring you can't live with". So as advised, work on your wash technique. I'm disappointed with myself if I have to polish once a year, even on our minivan.
