I like cheese.
A few weeks ago I got really tired of the hand-me-down (wood) ladder I was using for detailing. I would be washing an SUV's roof, hands all wet and go to move the ladder a few feet and, yeooow. . . splinter after splinter. I went to OSH to check out what they had. I came across the Polder Platform Ladder and picked up the three step. OSH had it for $50 and the 2-step was like $10 less!
It folds up somewhat compact, about 3.5'x1'x6". The legs lock into place with two latches. The legs were a bit warped and it wobbled when I bought but a minute or two with a rubber mallet and it was all good.
A couple days later I got to try it out as I detailed a Yukon and it was great. While polishing the top I only had to move the Polder twice to work the entire roof. I was able to use pressure on the PC without feeling like I was going to lose my balance. I was able to reach about 2/3 across the roof with my hand.
I will be modifying it slightly to make it "detailing safe." I am going to add some safety sand paper tape to the steps and platform to make it less slippery and am trying to figure out a perimeter cushion in the event that it touches the vehicle. Mcmaster.com or something.
When I am done working the roof I use it as a table while detailing. All in all I think it is well worth the money (that I paid, not $100!) and it has really improved efficiency.
Grade: A-
