Pledge furniture polish

Has anyone ever heard of or used Pledge furniture polish on auto batteries, door jams, trunk, engine compartment, interiors? I'm thinking anything plastic or vinyl. Some old timers swear it keeps the battery looking like new, no need for grease or goop. :sosad

Is this truth or fairytale?

Come on now spill the beans on a private secret or two. I'm anxious to hear what everyone has to say!

I've been using pledge for decades on my motorcycles. Nothing does as nice a job at keeping the windshield clear. Same with the helmet faceshield and such. It fills in those little scratches so you don't get the star wars effect at night.



Downside is it gathers dust like crazy. Normally, I reapply every morning when I'm traveling. Then I get to let the morning dew wet and soften all the bug chunks.



Just about every long distance biker has a bottle of Pledge and a rag in the saddlebag.

As an 'old timer' I agree with DFTowel



Why does Pledge make things shiny but attract a lot of dust...can you say high silicone content

Pledge = Silicone + fragrance. Nothing more than that. I'd rather use a water-based protectant on the engine compartment.



As for plexi, I guess use what works. I'd think Plexus would be the hot ticket but it's one of those personal experience things.
