Please critique site/packages

I just put my new site up live (click username-->homepage) and wanted to get some input. I know that there are 2 buttons on the tool bar that do not work and a couple areas that need to be finished, this is just a preliminary evaluation. I built the entire thing myself, including the logo and all the graphics. Thanks guys!

I really hate having to scroll to the right to see the entire page. Make the car smaller as well. You're main page doesn't have information, just links, so you should be able to fit it in without scrolling. IMO, Everything is put together well, just need to work on the size.

It looks nice, but as mentioned, the main page is way big, I had to scroll over to see anything and you might try mixing in some different colors, way too much black and gold.....maybe a bright red Ferrari on the front page would help break that up?

I agree with what everone has stated so far, but looks great.

Just some minor tweaking and you should be all set.

Creating a website is hard work and very time consuming!

Great site.

Two things to note. The first thing is that once you enter the gallery to view the pictures, you do not have a link taking you back out to the home page.

The second note is with your packages. The elegant package and the concours package differ, I assume, by paint correction. In the case of the elegant package you may want to change the hand polish to machine polish, mostly because its save you time. When you are detailing cars sometimes you have to do what is the most efficent for your time. No sense in charging less for a service that is going to take up more of your time. That is my $0.02.

The first thing is get rid of those low res pics. If your going to use generic gallery pics get high res ones at least. Those are all pixaly and really don't show the quality your trying to convey. I think it's a solid start. The layout might need some tweaking. and of course the size thing.

I'm not sure why anyone on here is talking about your packaging and pricing.. Seems a little childish to me. You asked for critique on the actual website alone not the content on how you want to offer your services. I hate it when people can't read. reminds me of the presidential debates where you can ask a very direct question and then they decide to go off on their own little tandum about anything but your question.

Ummm, the title of the thread is critique site/packages

I stand corrected. I just read the posting not the title. Carry on with blasting his choices in pricing and offerings away then. Hopefully he won't take it all too hard. afterall he did ask for it.

I think you should run for president............:think2 :rofl

sorry I could not resist,

Nice job... like anything else it will take a little more and refinement ..(believe me it is never ending, just when you think you are done you end up adding something else).

View your site in Firefox.... the homepage some of the links shift to the left and bunch together. I know it is minor, but about 20-30% of web browsers are using firefox over IE.

Adding content with keyword phrases will help the search engines index your website so it will appear when someone does a search. Make sure you have page titles as well.

Thanks guys...looks like I've got some tweaking to do. Great advice as always from the board. I think the hardest part was actually creating the graphics and publishing since I know nothing about computers. Anyways I'll keep perfecting it!

Wow, sounds like you're bitter about something Jake? :laugh:

Well I think I remember Jake posting HIS prices in another thread and everyone jumped all down his throat about it, so I can see him being sensitive to that sorta thing for others.

Having done a multimedia degree at uni, your website makes me cry.

* its too wide

* the colours are too strong

* the pictures on the left menu are should have the text under it, not above.

* you have no information on your front page

* The appointment fucntion is overkill, having your email and phone number is all thats required

* your packages are good however you should seperate the packages..

* The premium care package i didn't even see.

* as you only offer one inteior or engine bay package i would not have them on seperate pages.

* I would have the menu on the left hand side. Logo at the top. Content in the middle.

* The left menu should have the following five buttons in my opinion.

* About Us/Home

* Services

* FAQ

* Gallery

* Contact

Heres a link to my website http://www.totalshine.com.au/EDITED.swf

This site looks simple however its design was made by a team of uni students and was one of my group assignments. Making the website was the easy part, using flash. We had to do a complete design proposal and lay out everything using cognitive research and how people read pages. Most people close websites after the first few seconds if they cant find the information straight away. I'd copying my layout directly using html, though my website is flash so you'd have to start from scratch.

Hopefully his helps. You'll get a lot of business if the site is well constructed.

I'm not sure what company you used to make your site, or how much you pay each month for hosting.

Go daddy dot com offers some really good deals on hosting and they even have their own in house (I think...) web designing program you can use.

I use them, you should just check it.........its extremely user friendly!

Your site looks pretty good, especially for your first one, and with no computer experience.

Don't let anyone get you down.....it just needs some minor improvements, thats all.

Take Care,

JJH
