Please critique my flyer

Okay, this is my first flyer. Tell me what you guys think and please, by all means, give suggestions. It will be printed on bright yellow paper btw.

To the point. By the way I have a 2000 GTP ;) Check out clubgp.com

Consider using other colors too like Pink, Green... That way if you hit one car twice in a week it will look like a differnt company..

My big general question for every businesss that details cars is "Does the general public understand what "Auto Detailing" really is? How many will see the Auto Detailing in anyone's ad, business card, or flyer and, not knowing what it means, read no further? I would wonder if a flyer which read something like:

DON'T READ THIS IF YOU KNOW WHAT DETAILING REALLY IS! and then explain it in the finer print below.

No, I'm not in advertising or the detailing business, but do remember that I used to think detailing was a politically correct term for an expensive carwash (by underpriviledged minorities).

Looks pretty good, but the price (even for a special) seems a bit low....especially if you are only adding $10-30 for larger vehicles. If your market won't support higher prices though, you are okay.

Trust me though, detail a trashed out Suburban for $120 and you will be kicking yourself for a week. ;)

I agree 100%!

The price is extremily low. What you state worth 150 interior and 110 the exterior.

Careful with prices, such way you´ll focuse low income customers look the best deal (price/quality). Such customes used to have very dirty cars, and the expect you to bring them back a new car for $89.

Think it twice, my advice based on experience

~One man’s opinion / observations ~

My suggestion would be to swap “Professionally trained…â€ for “Winter weather…â€ and vice versa, that way you emphasize / explain what you will do for the customer, and I agree with the consensus of opinion on the price quoted.

~Hope this helps~

Experience unshared; is knowledge wasted…/

justadumbarchitect *so I question everything*

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. Maybe I'll raise the price to $109.95. Would that be better? Maybe it would attract the higher end cars not the trashed ones.

TOGWT, I'm a little confused as to what you are saying. Do you mean to switch the location of the winter weather/professional lines on the flier? Which would put the winter weather section up top.

Mr. Clean 2k, I'm already a memeber of ClubGP actually, same screen name as here. I like your idea reguarding the colors. Along with bright yellow, maybe I'll get bright green, and bright pink also for my fliers.

Thanks a lot everyone, I appreciate it.

Robert.

Wow! If I could get a good detail done for that price I'd never do it myself again! Most good detailers here in West Los Angeles are about 120.00 detail only. Interior is extra.

IMO I would get rid of the "$.95" cents at the end of whatever price you choose. To me, it seems kinda cheesy like I'm buying something from a department store. That's just me though...

Maybe add:

"Serving the Anytown WV metro area".

Even though the ad may only be published locally, some papers may find their way to outlying areas.

Will you drive to Los Angeles and detail my Tundra and Rav4 for $90 each? :D

I agree that the "x9.95" is kinda tacky, especially since tax will be added. How does your state work? Here in CA, labor cannot be taxed, only materials, and only if materials are itemized separately.

"Professionally trained" adds a bit of flash, but without actual credentials, is meaningless, and some could claim misleading.

Good format, good photo placement. Overall, I like it.

Every above critique took the words right out of my mouth.

I would definitely take everyone's advice and I'm pretty sure you'll see awesome results.

Early last year I was charging low prices and didn't get good results, and then later in the year I charged much higher prices and ironically received much more business. Now I charge even higher prices.....let's just say I'm getting ready to buy a condo and a new car!;) It is proven that if you charge low prices, you are going to get "bargain hunters" with crappy cars and then they'll have the audacity to expect 100% high quality work! Increase your prices and target those who are more likely to be able to afford "real" detailing prices.

AJ-same here! I started off doing details for $60 for cars, $80-100 for SUVs, trucks, etc in the mid 90s. Got your average, run of the mill domestic cars mostly but when I raised my prices 25% I got even more business and a lot more high end cars. I raised my prices for details and polish/wax jobs about 20-25% across the board this year with no complaints...which means I can probably go up a bit more in 6 months or so.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far everyone.

I understand that 89.95 is too cheap. Would $109 be a better price maybe?

Rlockyer, I was actually professional trained recently in Pittsburgh. My 'certificate of completion' is 'still on its way' though

I'll work on a revised version and post it shortly for you guys to critique.

Thanks everyone,

Robert

Here is my revised flyer. Let me know what you think. If it's good, I'll probably get it printed tomorrow. Thanks again everyone.

Robert

Add $40-50 and you will be ok!.

Like you, at the begining I was afraid people would find my prices expensive. I made a huge effort, steel nerves, and now I am very very very happy with my decision. Many of my custommers are rich people, famous, politics, ...

It is tough, but I recommend you be strong on that point.

Oh my gosh!!!

Been there!

It will never happen again.....(to me, that is.)

I charge $40 - $60 more for any truck, van or SUV, just because of their size.

I would suggest putting a coupon on the flyer, would make people think that they are getting a better deal. Charge $149 and give them a $30 off coupon or something like that. Plus you'll probably end up doing some details for $149 which is a lot better then what you are asking.

Yup... consider the time.

I have a Tundra with a glass bed cover... not quite as much glass as an SUV, but a comparable amount of paint.

Takes me 2 hours to clay.

Takes me just over an hour to PC with AIO.

Takes me 2 hours to SG.

That's over 5 hours, and doesn't even include the glass, interior, wash, and tire/wheel treatment... I usually wash the night before and hit it with the CCD and maybe QD before claying... I detail the wheels and dress the tires with the wash.

Are you willing to work your butt off for $140 a day if you can't get the first job scheduled for 8am with a second one after that?

Scratch that... including the interior, tires, and wheels, you've got a full day there unless you're REALLY good :)

I'm certainly not a pro, and I'm sure my times are on the long side, but I don't see anyone being able to get two vehicles like mine done in one day.
