Starting to get geared up for the spring time. I want to offer a "spring time detail" package and came up with this ad. This ad would most likely become my "winter protection" package in the fall after a little editing. Let me know what you think.

Book your Spring Time Detail now. ***-***-****

We are Explicit Details Auto Appearance, CT’s Finest Auto Detailing. We are mobile and serve the greater Danbury, New Milford and Waterbury areas. We also travel to other areas such as Lower Fairfield County.

The winter can be harsh on your car. Road salt and sand can damage your paint and reduce its natural gloss and shine. Our Spring Time Detail will help to reverse this damage and make your car look the best on the block.

Spring Time Detail includes:

Exterior:

An eco-friendly hand wash with virtually no water run-off

Wheels, tires and wheel wells scrubbed

Entire paint surface clay barred to remove all contamination

Door jambs cleaned

Paint is machine polished to remove swirl marks, scuffs and light scratches

Plastic headlights and taillights are machine polished to improve clarity

Protective dressing applied to tires and plastic trim

Windows are cleaned streak free

Exhaust tips cleaned and polished

Paint protected with sealant to bring out the maximum shine

Interior:

Entire interior is vacuumed and dusted

Carpets are shampooed

Leather is deep cleaned and conditioned

Protective dressing applied to dash and console

Door panels cleaned and dressed

Windows cleaned streak free

The Spring Detail starts at $250, depending on the size and overall condition of the vehicle. Large trucks and SUV’s will be slightly more.

Call today for a free, in-person estimate. Other packages and services are also available.

How is this add going to be distributed?

I look at an add for about a hot second and if it doesn't make we want to look at the rest of it, it hits the can. Look at adds that catch your interest in the paper or where ever, figures out what caught your attention and model your add after it. Try it on your friends/customers as a focus group drinking game

Most people will look at WHAT the ad is selling. Granted "about a hot second" might be the time frame your ad gets looked at, people will look more or less as long as they have to (anywhere from 1 second to ~10 seconds) in order to figure out WHAT your ad is selling. After that, based on what it is, a decision is made whether to read details or not.

Example: (For this exercise, the reader is a male) You're reading the newspaper. You see this stylish, colourful ad with SAVINGS and ACT NOW words. You scan it randomly looking to see what it is. Then you notice the name of the business, "Sensual Bra Boutique". You flip to the next page of the paper.

It doesn't matter how the ad looked, or what size it was. You weren't the target audience, therefore, the ad does not work on you.

So while yes, making an ad attractive and "eye catching" is certainly part of the equation, you have to look further than that and think about what your specific target audience would want to see / read, not the general newspaper-reading population.

Well the first thing that popped in my head is What makes you the Finest? I know some really good detailers that cover CT.

Or just leave the one liners in the 1990's. He can just say "we are XX detail covering this and that county"

Thanks for all the input. I should have mentioned that this ad is meant for craigslist. I know, not the best place to advertise, but it's free. I'm sure most people looking at craigslist are looking for the cheap deals not caring if their detailer is a hack or not, but it's not costing anything so why not put an ad on there.

I'm still up in the air about the finest detailing line. I put it on my business cards and website to hopefully put a positive thought in the potential customer's head as soon as they read it. And to also raise that very question, what makes me the finest, so hopefully the reader will call me to find out why. I know there are some awesome detailers in CT and can't wait to meet some of them.

If it's an ad for Craigslist, then large before/after pics really can help. You can

help local sellers too. I'd contact the owners of higher-end cars for sale, or any

that could really use a good detail...maybe you can even offer to create a better

ad for them with better pics? Who knows...

I think you should use before and after photos in the add to prove your quality. In think they will have much more impact than just saying it.

Don't sweat it dude. If you're confident in your abilities and you want to advertise yourself as the best, do it. You're setting yourself apart from other hacks who are scared to back it up(I am not suggesting anyone here). It's advertising. Be honest at the same time. If you think you're the best, you have customers who think you are and you can back it up with real quality, do it. I do the exact same thing and no one complains that I have false advertising.
