So last week I decided to buy a couple of beaters at the local public auction with the intention of selling them. I bought a 1998 Montero and 1998 Explorer. Both high mileage and good condition.
Today I was bored at home and decided to polish the headlights of the explorer and wanted to experiment with PlastX (something I had used before for this purpose) versus SSR 2.5 (something I felt would be safe for the plastic). I used the PC on speed 6 with a 4" yellow cyclo cutting pad.
Here are the results: (I refer to sides as they are on the photos; captions under each photo)
Right side polished with PlastX for about 10 minutes.
Close-up of right side
Close-up of left side unpolished
Frontal view, left side polished with SSR 2.5 for about 5 minutes. (Hi finger!)
Picture of the deflector before polishing
Another one of the unpolished deflector
You can kinda see half polished and half not polished. (Hi Z!)
Close up of the Ford (ew!) logo
Finished job. Not too great of a picture as it was getting dark
Finished job from another angle. Not enough light for my little point-and-shoot camera. Or maybe just not the right setting.
Anyway, just wanted to post these for feedback. It looks like it came out ok for not putting that much effort into it. I also do not want to hear the SUV is dirty. I know it is
I could have spent a little more time on the deflectors but decided to quit since it was already dark and the mosquitoes were eating me alive...
