Plasti-X vs Polish

Any significant peformance of Meg's Plasti-X vs polish for polishing clear plastics ? or is it just repackaged polish ?

PlastX is not oily like paint polishes, so it is a simple wipe on, let dry, and slowly buff off product. Smells pretty good too. Doesn't leave residue behind either.

I guess my curiousity got the better of me and I went out and spent $10.49cad for a bottle of Plasti-X tonight. My first impression when I remove the seal was that it smelled like VIM and even looked a bit like it too with the light blue color, so that was not a good sign !

I put a dab on a MF and tried to polish the transparent instrument cluster cover and boy did it ever perform like VIM, it put on more hairline scratches than ever and the plastic even dulled abit. I shaken the bottle well and and even try working in the product so it break down as it contains diminishing abrasives. I then tried polish with #80 and #82 and the hairline scratches diminished a little, but were still there. I had resort back to my true and tried method of using Silvo and 99% of the hairline scratches were eliminated.

Moral of the story, always trust your gut feeling of what exprience has taught you. :(

Plasti-X is a big 0 in my books, Anyone want to trade a bottle of Plasti-X for any type of polish ?

Ive achieved great results with it on taillights and dulled headlights.

i actually used some on the head/tailights via pc (clayed first) this morning with pretty good results...

I love plasti-x. I used it on my headlights, one of them was dulling partially at the top and used it with my PC and a green polishing pad and volia the haze came out and it was gleeming. So you used it on your instrument cluster? I've never tried it there. I would use Plexus plastic polish (arisol) for the instrument cluster. Plexus fills in hairline scratches and really shines plastic.
