I just did a test section on a black suv starting out with #83 on a megs cutting pad followed by op on a megs polishing pad, followed by #80 on a megs finishing pad. I wiped the area off and was pleased to find that all the marring was gone. Under halogens I noticed "pitting" all over the area! What the h** is this? What can I do to get rid of them? Maybe try a more aggressive step?:hairpull

If you can feel it with your finger nail its beyond help. It means the pit is passed the cc. All you can do is try to fill it with some glaze.

I've had that from two sources: road rash (i.e., normal pitting) and from poor-quality repaints (it's a phenomenon known as "solvent pop"); I have both on the M3 and both became *much* more noticeable after I corrected the panels in question. In fact, the repaint-based pitting simply wasn't there until I corrected the area in question. Only solution is repainting the affected panels.

Thanks for response accumulator. The vehicle is actually my personal ride, so I know it's not from repaint. I ran my fingernails across the area and it did not catch. What do you recommend I can do to get rid of them?
