Pirates Black ATR detailed for the first time

Detailed this beautiful car last Friday for a friend that just bought it :)

Its a '99 and had never been properly detailed in all those 4 years :(

The only products I used (because of time) were wash with Zymol Auto wash (his own wash), polished with Megs #9 and finished with Autoglym Super Resin.

The #9 took much much longer than expected because of the extreme heat on the day and the fact that we were working on very harsh direct sunlight.

Never again :shocked

The paint was pretty neglected with some major swirls and lots of light scratches. Managed to get the majority of heavy swirls out. Not perfect but a heck of a lot better than before.

Will top with S100 in a couple of weeks and get some more pics

Here are the pics:

Ignore my red ATR behind his, it hasnt been washed in a couple of weeks but still exhibits a wonderful Super Resin/Blitz/S100/QS shine.

Thanks Jose :D

It does a pretty good job and really gives a good, glossy base for the rest of the products :)

Could do with DACP for some of the other marks but I dont have any currently.

Hey Nick: as you can get them on a local body shop store, why don't you try our (European) version of 3M PI-III. It's amazing the results of using their line toghether, specially the Fine Compound (=DACP?), the Machine Polish and Finishing Glaze.

Take a look: 3M UK PI-III page

Naahhh! Just yesterday I polished & waxed my rear view mirrors by hand with them. Very easy to use and break in. Try them, trust me ;)

I use Fine Compound, Machine Polish and Finishing Glaze. Usually, they're supposed to be used with a rotary, but I also use them with the PC with great success and by hand with no trouble at all.

As you know, I have almost everything it's worth having, and I'm really impressed with these products.

Nice work Nick! Bet he was a happy man!

Did a friends 206 last week as a favour because he's thinking of selling it. As soon as he saw the finish I got "You ***** (insert swear word) !!!!! I'm gonna have to keep it now it looks this good!"

Just gave it a quick wash and went round it with Quik Shine and some Rubber + Vinyl treatment. He was over the moon! Looked pretty good though I must say!:D

Oh, and are you going to JAE at the end of the month?

Cheers :).

Jose, thanks for the advice :up

Alex - thanks :xyxthumbs I've really started to enjoy doing cars for friends and family, so much so that I'm told I should really take it up as a profession  :o

I'll definately be at JAE! Not sure whether I am coming down the Friday or Saturday but I'll be camping till Sunday (and getting very drunk in the process ;) :D ).

Oh btw - this guy (with the black ATR) wants some clay so he can get the perfect finish next time I detail it. Have you got any of the Clearkote clay in yet, out of interest?

Yeah, know what you mean! It's a joy doing it when the people are really happy with the outcome.....I get told the same thing though!

I'll probably just be going on the Sunday but I'll get in touch and make sure we hook up :)......I'll look for the guy with the stonking hangover and make sure I shout extra loud! ;)

Yes in answer to your question. I'll send you a pm.

Cheers :).
