Pinnacle XMT?

i've had a chance to use the full XMT line already.
#1 swirl remover can only get out the lightest of marring. I would reserve it for haze removal
#2 is a great run of the mill polish. I was able to get out 3 months of bi-weekly tunnel wash marring from a G35 using this polish combined with an orange light/med cut pad on the pc. The finish left behind is LSP ready even when I used an orange pad. This could be due to me working on a lighter colored car.
No dusting was seen when using these polishes.
My LSP on the G was the XMT carnauba finishing glaze. The bottle says that it's an all in one type product that combines wax, cleaner, and glaze together. After polishing I applied this product and was almost instantly hit with a pleasant smell of grape. Actually 10 minutes later my mom came out to the garage and asked where the orchard was :D The CFG (acronym copyright of Neothin 2006) left a very wet looking paintjob on the G35. Seeing as the G was a champagne/gold color, this was quite impressive. Even under direct florida sunlight, the wetness could be seen. I can't say about its defect filling ability though, seeing as i polished before application, I was already swirl free.
The pad conditioner is a nice product to use. in my experiences, misting a pad with water gives you a moist pad, but not necessarily a softened pad. The pad conditioner not only moistens the pad, but it also seems to soften it up a bit. This will prevent dry polishing when making your first couple of passes with a new pad.
The pad cleaner is really nice. I always use a 3:1 diluted APC and mist the used pad and then clean under running water. The problem with this is that the APC tends to suds up when your washing the pad. The XMT pad cleaner does not sud at all.
I did not have a chance to use the #3 swirl remover. it was available, but i had no need for it. #2 made quick work of the swirling on the G35.

Thanks for the reply! It sounds interesting, and the price is right. Any comments on the protection/longevity of the CFG?

i cant say about the durability... it was only applied saturday afternoon. I dont see the car but every 3 months so....

I just got that message today as well.

How would you compare XMT 1, 2 to Poorboy's SSR 2.5 and 1?

Thanks.

SSR1 and XMT1 are about the same.. XMT1 being slightly less aggressive. XMT2 is about equal to SSR2. It just didnt have the same bite as 2.5. The best part, XMT doesnt dust like the ssr's do. woot! i didnt remember to check if they'll work on a hot car in the sun though. sorry :(

Thats ok, I don't feel like the SSR's work all that well in the sun, they dry pretty fast if the surface has any temp to it, so I always wind up misting my pad.

Thanks for the input.

They are on the way so I'll do a test on my car when it gets done (so many cars lined up for me to do right now)

misting your pad makes the SSR line dry out quicker..

I got a set of the new XMT line and tried out a few of their products. I used the new XMT Pad Conditioner with XMT Carnuba Finishing Glaze on the Mach 1 (which is a garage Queenie) and the wife's daily driver: 11 year old Pathfinder with 164,000 miles. Both came out stunning. As of today, the Pathfinder has been through several rain storms and is parked outside daily. I'll do a wash this weekend on it (that will be approx. 2 weeks of wear n' tear).

Here's the Mach 1...very cloudy, but it shows the gloss of XMT's Glaze:

Here's the Pathfinder...not bad for 11 year old paint!

I'm going to try the light swirl remover on "Mikey" the repo'd Suzuki Vitara this weekend. All-in-all, Pinnacle seems to have introduced some great new products at competitive prices.
