Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Paint Coating

Thanks to Ronkh for inspiring me to try the Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Coating. It’s the fifth coating I’ve purchased and his review intrigued me. I wanted to get it on a couple of panels on my coating test bed, our ’06 A6 Audi wagon. I’ve already got some panels done with Duragloss’s Enviroshield (applied last year) and the driver’s door with Optimum Gloss Coat (applied two weeks ago). I ended up getting a few products from Autogeek during their recent sale and applied the Pinnacle coating to the rear door, quarter panel and outboard tail light lens of this car.

Process:

  • FerreX
  • Wash
  • Speedy Prep Towel
  • DP’s coating prep polish (applied with Griot’s polisher)
  • Water wipe down
  • Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Paint Coating (applied with Lake Country’s coating applicator)

I really like coatings that can be sprayed. That’s huge to me. It’s been my personal experience that I don’t apply enough coating to the surface. The spraying routine quickly cures that shortcoming :) This post isn’t really a “review”, but a few comments on the coating. I’ll update on durability as time goes by. This product is looking very good so far! The scope of this task was simple and easily completed.

The gloss is very good immediately following application. Probably better than others I’ve tried. The other coatings seem to need a bit of time to cure before the gloss emerges. The Pinnacle coating yields a very slick surface right out of the gate. It’s apparent and I have not noticed this with the other products I use. It’s somewhat dramatic. Other coatings seem to have a grabby feel to them.

2nd the ease of application! Very easy to apply. Still testing durability. I have noticed that the beading properties tend to diminish kinda quickly but the gloss stays around.
