Pink Moose+Optimum Polish=lovely combo

Today I decided to detail my mom's commuter car, it's a 96 Civic EX with over 200k on the dial. The car has been good to her but it's time to get a new commuter, this thing feels every bit it's age. In any case, she left her car with me while she was in Oregon this past week and she's coming back tomorrow so I decided to suprise her with a mini detail. My goal was to make the car look better, without making it look too good cause I don't want her to fall in love with it again. Correction wasn't high on my list cause she's gonna be getting a new car pretty soon anyway so I decided to go with Pink Moose w/OP added to the mixture to give it a bit more cut. I used 2oz VM, 2oz RMG, and 1oz OP.

Outstanding! :goodjob

I think she should keep it. At 200K, its just getting broken in. A co-worker of mine has over 350K on her Accord and it still runs like a top.

Thanks guys for the compliments. I think I accomplished my goal of making it look better without making it look too good.

I definitely wouldn't advise her to keep this car much longer, it's struggling right now. I'm gonna suggest she get a new car ASAP, she drives alot and knowing how the car runs is gonna have me worried when she hits the road. But at least it'll look good until she can get rid of it.

sorry to say but i think your mom is gonna fall in love with the car again. thing looks amazing dude.
LOL, thanks bro, but I hope she doesn't. I'll talk her into a new car if I have to, not only does she need it, she deserves it. I wish I was in a position where I could buy one for her, if I could I would.

I too love RMG on black, but both RMG and VMHG fill more than they remove, so watch out for swirls coming back after a few washes.

When I use RMG I only use it to enhance the look after polishing, not hide swirls, we all know how much it sucks whent hey come back, I could never stand to fill swirls on a customers car but I guess since it is your own it works for you.

I would be interested to know how long it stays swirl free, looks very nice by the way!

Thanks for the kind words.

I'm very familiar with the filling abilities of both VM and RMG, I just wanted my mom's car to look decent until she gets her new one. I wish you guys could have seen how dirty this thing was when I started this morning. The windshield looked like somebody spilled a soda on it, it dried up and then she ran the wipers. That wasn't the case, but that's what it looked like. The paint was all hazy/swirled, you couldn't even tell the paint was metallic, it was horrible.

But since this is the car she drives most and I'm a weekend warrior, I couldn't let her come back from vacation to a filthy car.

My dad just picked up a new vehicle today, brand new Toyota Sienna. I think i'm gonna get some CG M-Seal for it so when he comes down next month I can give it the treatment.

If durability is a concern, I'd skip the M-seal. I had it on my GTP, and while it was the most carnauba-looking sealant I've tried so far, I got less than a month of optimal protection out of it. I hear their Jetseal 109 is a world beater... it's not cheap though.

Although I didn't know durability wasn't a strong point with M-Seal, I ordered JetSeal a few minutes ago when I was perusing the CG website. $38 and some change for a 16oz bottle. Man, this stuff better be good! Thanks for the heads up on M-Seal too:xyxthumbs

Looks really good! I've mixed OP and VM, seems to work well and give a bit more depth than just one or the other alone.

wow huge improvement! I'll have to get some VM myself :d

she's gonna want to keep the car now! If the motor is bogging out, get another one, those motors come a dime a dozen!

And I thought I was the first one to mix it like this:nixweiss

VM is good stuff, you should definitely have some in your arsenal. If she were gonna put another motor in there, it would definitely be a B18C1, but I won't let that happen cause mom deserves to ride around in style. Her main concern is gas mileage cause she does a ton of driving, so it's probably gonna be another Honda, maybe even a Toyota. Personally, I think she'd be well served by a Hybrid Accord.

Well, I picked up my mom from the airport this morning and we were talking about her car on the way to my house. She made it very clear that she will be getting a new car ASAP, at the latest the first week in August. This was music to my ears!

She loved the way her car looked once we got to my house, she forgot the paint had flakes in it, LOL. I had to explain that I did not do as best as I could on it because I knew she was going to get rid of it soon, but that didn't matter as she was very appreciative of what I did do and she thought it looked alot better than it did.
