PICS! Toyota Avalon

Here are some pics of a Toyota Avalon that was detaled today. The car was detailed like once in the past so the exterior was pretty dirty, but the pics don't do that much justice I don't think of displaying the dirt.

My process was as follows for the exterior:

Wash

Clay

DACP (started using rotary then went to cyclo with yellow pads (very rough)

AIO

FMJ

I would of done more steps because I would of liked it to look better I guess....who knows. I spent about 7 hrs on this car between me and my friend. I think that seems kind of long. I was also having a problem with the DACP considering it was the first time I was using it. I was having a terrible time trying to buff it off.......what a pain in the A$$. I don't think I worked it long enough or was using too much product considering I was doing a cross thatch method with the cyclo, but some spots didn't even want to buff off no matter how much water or final detail I used. I think this product is meant to use with rotary as it can break it down better than a cyclo. Any comments are welcome.

Anyway here are the pics.......I hope it works cause its my first time posting........cause i finally remembered the camera....lol

all this resizing and compressing for posting pics and not one response.....o well. I guess i'll leave the camera at home.

go to www.photobucket.com to store your pictures. that way we will see larger pictures.

Good job on the toyota. Very nice reflections. Reminds me of an Altima I did a couple of weeks ago.

In the after trunk shot - do I see cobwebs?

might be some cob webs, i didn't apply glaze since it was a 3 step process and whatever elements of swirl remover were in the DACP and AIO.

Thanks for the reply,

Nick

Sounds like you didn't work the DACP long enough. I work a small area (about 2 sq. ft.) with a fairly fast speed on the pc but slow arm passes. The DACP will eventually break down and literally dust away. Using it that way with a polish pad (or orange pad followed by a polish pad) I usually don't have to follow up with anything and can go right to my LSP.

Nice job on the car, BTW.

I appreciate the reply on that DACP. I kind of figured I hadn't worked it long enough. I guess its a little different using a cyclo becuase you can't adjust the speed. However, the PC vibrates like crazy. Aside from that I originally started with my PC rotary, but I'm not too crazy about the CMA pads I bought with it. They are concave structure and you have to keep the pad on an angle, otherwise you can induce swirls or the pad will hop even with a sufficient amount of product down. I guess it just takes time to master the rotary. I've used it before and have been pretty good with it. I need to practice more and also waiting on new pads that are more convex design. It's just not comfortable working with the PC rotary and that pad for some reason.

nice job.

btw, i'm just curious, did you attach your pictures? if you have your pictures in your Autopia gallery, you should try using the IMG button, which would allow you to post more pictures in one post. i'm not sure if there is a limit to the number of pictures you can have in one post though.
