Picked it up last night, it's a 2005 Ford Excursion Eddie Bauer edition, 6.0L Powerstroke turbo diesel and a 5 speed automatic. Doing a full detail on it tomorrow, and yes, the dealer did detail it :(

I didn't notice any swirls though

Anyways, here are the pics.

That should keep you out of trouble for a while!

I notice a significant difference in the time it takes to detail a mid-sized car to even a mid-sized SUV. Mind you, I still do it by hand (just til Xmas though :) )

You know you're obsessed when:

You have to detail a brand new vehicle straight off the lot - anyone other than an autopian would think you were nuts.

Is this your Dad's first excursion (i.e. did he trade in a car or pick up truck or...??) Just curious as to how satisfied he is with the vehicle.

It certainly has all the comfort bells and whistles.

We had a leased 02 Explorer before this....so far my dad loves it. Plenty of room inside, and cruising on the highway is silent.

It looks good now. What's the product/process plan for it? What kind of mileage do you get with the 6.0? My dad's 7.3 must be sick because we're lucky to get 13-14 mpg ;(

Any mod plans?

4x4?

anyone know f those come with SFA or IFS?

I've only noticed that wheel on the 4X4 models. I'm gonna guess it's a 4X4.

Plus, it's the Lariat. Spend that kinda coin on the truck, you might as well go with the additional drive shaft.

That was the exact color combo my Dad wanted on his '99 Super Duty (truck version). UNfortuneatley there was only one truck on the east coast at the time that met all of his needs/wants.

Make sure your dad knows: If the rear view mirron hits something, it will fold in. But the glass will shatter. We know form experience ;)

Thanks for the compliments. I'm gonna wash, clay, AIO w/polishing pad, Zaino Z2 w/finishing pad. I don't use Zaino that much, but it's kept outside (don't think it'll even fit in the garage), and I want the most protection possible.

And yes it's a 4x4

I was looking very closely in direct sunlight around 2 30pm, and there are absolutely no swirls. I'm positive the dealer detailed it.....is this even possible? :o

They might have used something with lots of fillers in it. I'd take a close look after the first wash and see if you don't wash some of the product off and reveal any swirls. Maybe you got lucky, though. :up

Sure it's possible. The guy who detailed just knew what he was doing. While it may be uncommon, it's not impossible ;)

You just got lucky. Now, if you ever find any swirls in it, you can't blame it on the dealer because it's your fault :p

Those wheels came on my 03 F250 Superduty crewcab 2wd...they are just the "premium" aluminum wheel option.

And, all 05's in the Superduty line (4wd) (Excursion is on the same chassis as F250, F350) have a twin coil monobeam front now, as opposed to the leaf springs used up until 04.

^Are you sure? I heard the Excursions still had leaf springs, but I know the pickups got coils. I'll look under there tomorrow.

Nice looking vehicle! better make sure you have the econo-size bottle of klasse with ya ;) That thing is BIG. But it looks really nice.
