Pics of Cyclo in action and use?

Got my UPS ship notification should have it this weekend, I've used the PC and to say the least I haven't had much luck or maybe its patience or arm strength to do much other than putting on tons of layers of wax :) That being said I bought the cyclo to take the brunt of my polishing needs. Can anyone post pics on how you use it I was thinking you go diaganolly up and down, well I don't know, any help and methodology would be helpful as many people use the PC and have done write ups etc but very rarely do I cross a huge cyclo thread. Show me your stuff :spot

Hiya DMX and congrats on the new toy purchase. I have had a cyclo for about the last 6 months and love it. Scottwax is also a huge devotee of the cyclo so I am sure he'll have some pearls of wisdom to share with you as well.

.I find that I use the Cyclo the same way I use the pc. I will generally make several overlapping "east-west" passes that overlap about 50%. Once I have reached the end of the pass I will go over the same area going "north-south", again overlapping by about 50%. You can also do figure 8's that overlap. How many passes you do depends on the polish you are using and how much work time it gives you. (Optimum seems made for the Cyclo, although I have had good luck with Meg's 80, FK1 215, and the Sonus polishes.)

On the hood and the roof of the vehicle let the weight of the Cyclo do all the work. It tends to glide around like a nice Zamboni. On the side panels I use just enough pressure to get rid of the marring . (You will quickly learn the feel)

One nice feature of the Cyclo that is often overlooked is that you can unscrew one of the pad/padholders and screw it onto the PC. They have the same thread pitch. This enables you to spot work with the PC and 4" pads. Also, don't forget to get some brushes for your cyclo so that you can use it on the carpet and upholstery.

Lastly, be aware though....the Cyclo is friggen LOUD! Prob due to the industrial grade motor. It's not something that will make you hate the unit, but it will make you appreciate the comparative silence of the PC.

Hopefully something here is of help to you. :hifive:

dmx...I just did a "quick detail" on my car tonight using the cyclo. Before when I had to use the PC I couldnt get my polishes to work right, or I was doing something wrong and with a finishing pad and light polish it just didnt do it...so I had to use a polishing pad and then follow up with a finishing pad to get the look I wanted...the cyclo finishes down so nicely I can now go over it with Vanilla Moose/Blackfire Finishing Polish Mix on a cyclo green pad and get perfect results...very quickly since Im only cleaning up marring. I dont have to work tomorrow during the day so I can post a short video of me in action using the cyclo..Does anyone know where I can host it for free? Thanks!

P.s...You're going to love the cyclo :) Congrats!!

Edit: Regarding the sound of the cyclo...I found it way less noisy than the PC, i can hear my tv and carry a conversation with the cyclo on.

I thought the Cyclo was supposed to be quieter than the PC?

a video would be sweeeet, can probably put it on youtube or google video for free. Thanks for all the info guys, I have an 07 honda fit so I'm hoping the cyclo will be up to the task of polishing without much effort, I have more holograms than anything so I'm hoping this can put a dent in those. I think I have every other product but optim. can someone lead me in the right direction as to what I should look at? I use XMT products right now but I have a few other things as well, people say the soft honda paint is more like polish twice a year and use something with fillers the rest of the year so you don't tear your hair out, I'm still trying to piece the puzzle together of a regimine I can stick to.

not sure if this is an answer you are looking for or not but...there really is no methof to using a cyclo....been using mine for awhile now....while there really is no substitiute for a high speed when it comes to amount of work it does i hardly ever use one.....my cyclo does everything for me....cutting and polishing wiht no prep work and no worries about bruning through any clear whatsoever...

what i try do do though with the cyclois, say on the hood, make passes going across the hood the whole way down then up and down the hood the whole way across....and repeat if nesessary...

you will be more than happy with results IMO...

Congtatulations on your purchase, I'm anxious too!

Just checked UPS and my Cyclo is due today :getdown I'm also interested in any and all information from fellow Cyclopians. I'm satisfied with the PC, just wanted something a bit faster and able to remove swirls better. Sorry, no thread hijack intended...... :hifive:

Noise vs. PC? Gee, I dunno and I've sure spent enough time using both :nixweiss :o It's a different sound at least.

I often move my Cyclo in figure-8s, similar to what I do with the rotary. It probably doesn't matter much *how* you move the Cyclo, but I like to pretend it's a rotary and work on my technique/reinforce my muscle memory.

I polish smaller areas than some people, maybe a quarter-hood, at least if I'm using aggressive products.

Sometimes I put a fair amount of pressure on it, never caused any problems but don't overdo it.

If the Cyclo doesn't do the correction you expect, get a more aggressive product (Hi-Temp Heavy or Extreme Cut come to mind).

Never meant to hijack thread so I apologize. I called Cyclo today and they said it sounds like something is faulty with my machine. I will be sending it to them for warranty repair. They were very polite and top notch people by the way.

Im uploading my video right now of me using the cyclo...Nothing special just applying wax to let people see it in action...If people are interested I can take some video of defect removal as well under halogens.

I can tell you this much I haven't had the chance to do anything to a car with it yet but I flipped it on today wow...it feels like its got a lot more power than the PC and its alot more stable IMHO.

Hey guys, sorry for the delay on this video...It's almost done uploading, at 80% right now.

I will do some more videos leaning more towardsdefect removal rather thanjust the movement of the machine. I'll clear some room on my digital camera so I can get a couple minutes worth, otherwise I'll break it down into seperate clips for each step.

Look at the reflection! Not bad sir.

I am also a clyclopian. It is the most essential tool in my arsenal and I have 3 in stock.

Thanks for posting Josh, I wondered how a cyclo looked in action. Fantastic shine on your GTP, that red is so wet and reflective, wow!
