Hiya DMX and congrats on the new toy purchase. I have had a cyclo for about the last 6 months and love it. Scottwax is also a huge devotee of the cyclo so I am sure he'll have some pearls of wisdom to share with you as well.
.I find that I use the Cyclo the same way I use the pc. I will generally make several overlapping "east-west" passes that overlap about 50%. Once I have reached the end of the pass I will go over the same area going "north-south", again overlapping by about 50%. You can also do figure 8's that overlap. How many passes you do depends on the polish you are using and how much work time it gives you. (Optimum seems made for the Cyclo, although I have had good luck with Meg's 80, FK1 215, and the Sonus polishes.)
On the hood and the roof of the vehicle let the weight of the Cyclo do all the work. It tends to glide around like a nice Zamboni. On the side panels I use just enough pressure to get rid of the marring . (You will quickly learn the feel)
One nice feature of the Cyclo that is often overlooked is that you can unscrew one of the pad/padholders and screw it onto the PC. They have the same thread pitch. This enables you to spot work with the PC and 4" pads. Also, don't forget to get some brushes for your cyclo so that you can use it on the carpet and upholstery.
Lastly, be aware though....the Cyclo is friggen LOUD! Prob due to the industrial grade motor. It's not something that will make you hate the unit, but it will make you appreciate the comparative silence of the PC.
Hopefully something here is of help to you. :hifive:
