detailed a friend's moms car. paint was in pretty rough shape from the coin-op brushes. friend's dad vows to never use one again :D. ALL the trim including the bumper was heavily stained with wax, used VMW and pink eraser to get most of it out. (friend did most of the trim and the wheels, i did the paint polishing)

the volvo turned out REAL good. they said it was the best they've ever seen the car. that made me feel good, except i'm not sure if they were just trying to make me feel good. however it DID turn out better than expected.

i only wanted to get $50 bucks for the exterior detail. not much, but he is my best friend's parents and what not...he paid me 70 and said if i did his other cars he'd have to pay me much more.

anyways,

Nice job! What other products did you use other then VMW? I used some STP citrus degreaser + old toothbrush to get rid of most of the stains. The door handles and trim are such a pain to take care of when polishing and waxing even taping leaves a mark!

i didn't tape this time :o

i know, i know, i should and I WILL.

anyways,

DACP 2x for some areas

VMW

S100

i'm not sure if the light wasn't adequte, but by the time I was done the paint looked REALLY good. there were some scratches that needed touchup paint/something more aggressive and they were barely visible from about 10 feet once I was done. but yeah, i'll probably head over sometime soon and check it out to see how the paint is holding up.

i'm experimenting between interchanging EX-P and S100. i think S100 looks better tho. but it's all subjective.

pink eraser works wonders on textured trim. QD and VMW works great on caked on wax. QD is alot cheaper than VMW tho so I would use VMW as a last resort.

I tried using a white eraser, alcohol, AIO also and they didn't work out too well. Guess I'll buy a pink eraser and try it out. I found DACP+cutting pad left a really nice surface (I followed w/SFP on the hood, roof, and trunk only) and skipped right onto AIO and SG.

She looks that happy because she got a heck of job for 70 bones. Great work! Did you use VM only on the areas of trim that were affected or did you go all the way around the car. I don't know if it's the picture or not, but it looks somewhat faded and it would be interesting to know what would bring the color back if it's possible (VM, Back in Black, AIO, Forever Black etc...) My 17 year old Honda's trim needed to go the dye route to renew the color (Forever Black).
