Picking up a new car

Hi,

We may most likely be purchasing a new subaru in a few days (depends on how well the salesman does ). Anyhow, after seeing the baddly swirled mess on their showroom car, i'm seriously considering telling them to not touch the exterior of the car (ie. don't wash it + keep all the plastic wrappers on the car).



1) is this a good idea?

2) if I do this, how would I go about removing all the plastic once I get home. I I try and rinse the car off first? do I remove the plastic first? Also, once I peel off the plastic, what is the safest way to catch any left over glue?





btw. the car is going to be dark blue.

I personally would let the dealer take the plastic off the car but don't do more than that. Tell them that when you come for delivery, you want to ride along and watch the pre delivery inspection, and watch all the plastic being taken off the interior/exterior. That way you'll see any dammages being caused by the dealer's removal of these parts first hand. If they screw something up by scratching/scraping it just tell them they'd better replace that before you'll accept that car. Once this is done, inspect the paint for any factory defects like chips/etc, make sure all panels are straight and everything is perfect. Then you can take it home and make it look even better than new. :xyxthumbs

The reason why the are so swirled up is because they wipe them real quick all day long to keep them shiny and air borne debris lands and scratches them.



I will also be getting a new car in a few days. The last 2 cars my parents bought prepped by the dealer looked great. No swirls or scratches. If you are afraid, as lil shiny suggested, watch them while they prep it/remove plastic or even wash it.
