if you're mobile, this would make a good choice. search " wd4050 " and you'll find tons of info...

btw... the wd4050 has now been replaced/upgraded by the wd4070 pictured below. the only difference basically is the large wheels and casters they added, amongst another thing or two...

also, it's nice to have the...

I own the craftsman with the detachable blower. I don't think you will be disappointed with it if you decide to go with that one, I was amazed at the power of the blower. It's also nice that you can hook up the hose to the blower so you don't have to maneuver the whole unit, just hold the blower in one hand and blow with the other.

If money is an issue sears now offers layaway, which I had to use since I was recovering from surgery. I only had to put down 25 (US) cash, they wont take credit or bank cards for the first payment.

Sometimes Sears will have craftsmen for like $50, smaller ones typically. I have a really small Craftsman I got for 20 bucks, it works pretty well.

well, in the links i provided.. it says both rigid and craftsman are made by the same company... i would like a smaller one, but am thinking the suction of the 6.5hp would be ideal..

The craftsman I have is 6hp I believe. I am more than happy with the suction. Note that in the link you provided it also says that hp ratings are not a great indication of suction power, the motor amp rating is a more accurate guide to suction.

The ONLY number that indicates how much suction a vacuum has is how many "inches of lift" it produces. Horsepower, amps and watts mean absolutely nothing when it comes to suction. As an example, the Rigid 4050 makes 55-57 IOL. I had to email them to get the number. I would think the Craftsman models are around the same. Most vacuums won't have this number on the package but the manufacturer should be able to provide you with it. A Mytee Lite Shampooer makes 120 IOL. My Cobex vacuum makes around 90 IOL. Almost double the Rigid, but consequently costs about $450 CDN. Food for thought.
