*pic* How to polish off hard brake-dust/gunk on 2piece lip

As you can see in the picture, the HARD brake-dust stuck between the face and the barrel is almost impossible to remove. BTW, this is a two piece wheel...which you can't separate the face and the barrel with.



Can you recommend what tool/chemical to use on that crevice?

i have used a soft tooth brush with a little mothers aluminum polish on my forged wheels and it works excellent

I've already tried using my spoke-cleaning-bristle which is a lot tougher than tooth brush. It didn't do anything.

I could be wrong but......... it looks like the coating (paint?) is gone and it is rust not brake dust

The wheel is almost brand new and saw the road only 3 months. And i don't think aluminum rusts like that. The lip is not coated i don't think. The face is painted of course.

It's hard for me to tell from the photo but do you think a Mothers PowerBall Mini might work?

Try using a small pieces of clay on top of a piece of pencil.

Go to Lowe's, home depot or even walmart and look through the dremel bits. You'll know it as soon as you see it. They even have small polishing sets.

If the wheel will stand up to an acid cleaner, Meg's Wheel Brightener will just evaporate the gunk in those corners.



If it won't, Jshillin's onto it with the mini dremel buffs. The powerball mini might be too big to get into there.

I am going to do a BigAl3 move so that you know what a Dremel looks like. They work very well for jobs like this. But be careful with it also.

This could have been taken to mean that you do not know what a Dremel is. I now know that you are talking about the wool polishing cone, not the Dremel tool itself. However, look, misunderstandings happen here all the time, but there is never a reason to be rude to someone that is honestly trying to help you. You will make a lot of enemys in here real fast by displying such a poor attitude.

jshillin is right you can get these in Kits at Lowes or Home Depot.



Eastwoods.com has a great BOB kit also. They are a littler larger and they are great for detailing.
