Simply put: There are many different types and strengths of Petroleum Distillates. In some strengths and/or types, they will be harmful, useless or helpful, depending your desired results. This include mixed with other ingredients, chemicals and mixes. This is no different that your standard bar-soap – it’s got Lye in it and we’d NEVER put lye on our skin. Yet somehow, when mixed with other ingredients it’s just fine and is perfectly safe to use.

Seems you’re looking for something to clean and/or protect your RV roof membrane. Go to whatever RV store is in your area and ask them what to use on your roof for the purpose you desire. I’m CERTAIN it’s going to have Petroleum Distillates in it, and at that strength, solution, mixture it will be fine for your application.

Hope that helps.
