pesky vogue whitewalls

i have vogue whitewall tires, I can never get them perfectly clean anymore. Even westleys cannot make them like new with metal steel brushes. there is always some weird residue or little tiny sticky "balls" left on there! i clean them a lot, and Im looking for a better easier way. one time when i had them off i used minerall spirits and it made them perfect but its very difficult since water just wont rins the spirits away!



i hate using westleys because its so harsh, but westleys and metal brushes cant make them perfect, what will?

It may be that you are over cleaning the white walls. There comes a point with white walls where one can just wear thin the "white". I think you may be at this junction.



With your next set ease back on the cleaning, pay attention to the curb rubs and if possible invest in some brake dust shields. These may cut back on the grime that get on the tires. Also drop the Westleys and try something a bit more mild like a diluted solution of Simple Green and a softer brush.

I've done those vogue tires hundreds of times.



The best thing is simple paint thinner and a stiff bristle tooth brush.

I'm not going to answer any responses about harshness because these tires can take several dozens cleanings of this sort. If you really want the white part white and the gold part gold this is the only thing i've found that really works.

thanks for the tip--- will it wash away with water unlike mineral spirits? I thought mineral spirits was basically the same thing---it worked awesome but a little troublesome.... thanks for the tips guys.

Steel brushes? Mineral spirits??? For my whitewalls, it's just carwash soap or -- when I'm frustrated -- APC+ and a really gentle brush. ... I reckon it depends on how long we want the whitewalls to survive.

I bought some Greased Lightning Orange Blast to clean dboats engine in his Lightning. Thought the name was appropriate and there are no warnings on the bottle about using on painted or anodized materials.



Anyway I have a customer whose wife loves this PITA whitewalls on her Cadillac DTS and getting the whitewalls white is never easy, so I tried the Orange Blast at full strength and used a small plastic bristle scrub brush.

I think this product is amazing! Worked great on dboat's engine and a top notch job on the white walls. Definitely worth the $3.99 it cost for a 32 oz bottle.
