Perpetual Water Spots

My daily driver sits outside. Most mornings it`s covered with dew. Which then burns off, leaving small water spots.

I`ve yet to find a solution to this.

Any suggestions?

PS: I`m not going to cover it at night.

PSS: It looks great from more than 1 foot away.

I have 2 coats of FK1000p.

The spots are very small. A normal person wouldn`t even notice them. I guess that says something about me.

If you were to experiment and spray some water on car, do you get the same type spots ?

Have you ever tried washing the water spotted area with white vinegar, car soap, and water mixture? I say car soap to add some lubrication , BUT it does neutralize the vinegar acid (acetic acid), which is what you want to cut (dissolve) the mineral deposits (AKA water spots). You could try a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar in a quart mixing cup/bowl, and then a FEW drops of you favorite car soap, wash the affected area, then rinse, and THEN was the entire car like you usually do.

I tried Meg`s Consumer Line of Water Spot Remover, but it swirled my black Ford Freestyle when done by hand, and I demoted it to cleaning windows, which it does a very good job of removing mineral deposits on glass. I bought Optimum`s Mineral Deposit Remover to replace it, but have not used it yet.

I`d do that experiment with Distilled or Deionized water to avoid the chance of an "oops!"

My Solution#2 would be to rinse it off with a pressure washer using Deionized water.

(Solution#1 would be to just not care ;) )

All good suggestions. I just can’t be doing them almost every day for three seasons yearly. Especially at 5:30-7:30 in the morning.

I’m going to experiment with them just for fun.

The more I think about it,the long-term solution is apathy.

I apologize that I don`t have an answer for your question. I just wanted to post a thumbs up for CarPro Water Spot Remover and that if you needed to get rid of them then to give this a try. I was so overwhelmed by how well it worked I made a thread sometime ago:

My car got sprinkled on the other day so I will probably need to go over the entire car with it within the next few days and hopefully the new ceramic coating will make cleanup easier.

Good Luck!

Heh heh, sounds fine to me! Pick your battles...

Is it something that the regualar wash takes care of? If so I would be fine with that. One thing would be to have a look at what you put on the fk1000p. With if you have anything added from the car soap in protection and glossenhancer or the spray wax/QD you are useing or anything else. Something that some QD is great with is that they contains a small amount of lime scale remover in them. The one I know of which is very great at removing water spots is Koch Chemie FSE QD. I`m not so comfortable to use QD on the car if it has been out in the environments. But a quick rinse and with great plush mf towels and a QD that feels like adding lubrication I would do it. I think that a waterless wash would be an option to and some of them seems great to handle new water spots. It`s more lubrication in a dedicated waterless wash so if you live in an environment that don`t get you that of a dirty car a waterless could be an option too.

I *can* indeed get the "little spots from water getting on an unclean vehicle" with my FK1000P too..guess it`s that "why sheeting is better than beading" thing (FK1000P beads). They wash right off.

For a QD on the FK1000P, while FK425 or FK156 are the obvious choices, IUDJ works just as well for me, if not better. And it`s dirt-cheap compared to a "real QD".
