Perfecting an '07 Z06 in the shrine of shrines

This was a job that was well worth taking a break from retirement for. The victim was a 2007 Corvette Z06 - black on black - 700 miles. Owned by a really great guy, the car had only been cleaned twice since new, but never detailed. Paul is a detail-guy himself and found me via the net...Waiting patiently for a spot to open up, Paul had me out to where he keeps the Vette, yesterday.

Collectors Car Garage - NEW YORK

He emailed me that link when we chatted about the work to be performed as the days approached yesterday. I just sat and gawked at the sights on the net only to be even more excited (aroused?) when I got there yesterday. Being that it's winter, they are pretty full (250+ cars) on 3 floors. This place is absolutely unreal. No dust, security out the yin-yang, and a plethora of the most gorgeous garage queens you have ever seen...

Trying to maintain my composure and somehow get some work done, I set out to get crankin' on Paul's 505hp monster that was put in 1 of 3 detail bays the day before by the staff. I had my work cut out for me...

Starting on the interior, nothing more than a simple clean and removal of some sticky stuff and crayon marks from the factory, my finals were:

-Vacuum

-Steam carpets

-Zaino Z9 x 2 on leather, vinyl, plastic, rubber

-Zaino Z10 x 2 on leather, vinyl, plastic, rubber

-Zaino Z8 on glass, plastic trim, nav screen, gauges

-Zaino AIO in the jams

The exterior, as aforementioned, was cleaned twice...Once by the dealership upon pickup (yikes), and once by Collector's Car Garage's staff member(s). To say the least, I will be purchasing a car-washing kit to send to CCG along with instructions, so Paul's black paint will stay somewhat defect free. So here's what I was working with...

I dabbled around with a couple different combos and ultimately found a great match of Menzerna PO85RD with a white LC CCS pad on the PC @ 6 (x2 in a few areas). Paul was amazed at what this fine Menzerna polish did to his paint...Little did he know, there was more to come :). I finished up strong and the car was at 99%+ upon my departure. My finals were as follows:

-Z7 Wash

-Z18 with Z7 as lube

-Menzerna PO85RD via PC and LC White CCS Pad @ 6 (x2 in some areas)

-Zaino Z6 wipedown

-Zaino Z5 Pro (ZFX'd) on paint

-Zaino Z8 wipedown

-Zaino CS on paint, glass, and lighting

-Zaino Z6 wipedown

-Zaino AIO on wheels and exhaust

-Zaino Z16 x 2 on tires/trim

-CG VRT cut 2.5:1 in wells

After polishing

YES another Stilez Detail never thought Id see the day!!!!

Great job sean surprised 85RD and white pad did the trick, corvettes CC must not be that hard.

WOW.....:shocked

What an awesome job Sean. Just being inside a place like that my have been mind boggling. Something certainly worthy to bring you out of retirement.

Your work in outstanding. :goodjob

Sick work! That garage is just insane.

I'm surprised with just a PC and a light polish you were able to cut through the swirls on notoriously rock hard clear.

Good to see your work being posted again.

Amazing work Sean, I'm very impressed! After seeing your results with the white LC CCS pad and the Menzerna PO85RD combo, I decided to purchase both. I cannot seem to find the PO85RD though, apparantly it's been discontinued.

What would you recommend instead that's along the Menzerna line?

Wow x 1,000,000!

The garage, before & afters --i.e. everything.

That must have been an amazing experience.

It's good to see 'The Master' back in action :bigups

p.s. LOL at Danny McCoy. Kris thinks you look like him too.

Nice to see your work again, Sean! Still top-notch

I'm really surprised not to see the rotary on this job.

It's not discontinued. Menzerna USA just stopped importing it to the USA. It's still available in Europe and I actually just managed to buy a bottle from Phil at Detailer's Domain. He's in New Jersey.

Now back OT . . . Great work as always! Glad to see a detail posted from you again. Like everyone else I am impressed that you were able to remove that marring with a PC and a finishing polish. I guess the extra "bite" a cerami-clear polish has helped out.

Sean, why the pc? You usually would finish with your rotary and a finishing pad and Menzerna then on to your Zaino. Just wondering why the change this time? Also how do you like those CCS pads-good job as always-sweet garage-can I borrow some of the car keys for a day or so??
