Peeling paint on radiator

Last weekend when I was detailing my engine on my 94 Toyota pickup I noticed that some of the black paint on my radiator near where the hose comes out of the top was peeling, leaving a yellowish color. First, does anyone know if this is bad? Second, any suggestions on what type of paint can hold up to the heat on the radiator so I can cover up the yellow?

My access to a digital camera has been removed for a week, so I can't post a picture.

Madison, Alabama? That's where my folks live. I think you're the first person I've ever met on the internet that's from Madison/Huntsville.

Anyhoo, most high temp paints should work fine. You'll have to clean that area very well and sand for prepping. I have no idea what the yellow stuff is so I think it's best to clean it off completely before painting.

Good luck.

Sand down the exposed area with a mild sandpaper and head out to any autoparts store. You'll find temp resistant spraypaints there. On some old Novas I had I would remove damn near everything in the engine bay and repaint it. On my newer vehicles that isn't so easy, but I've repainted a lot of the brackets, etc. The paint has always held up well, but I can't remember any specific brands.

Just to be sure the hose/tube is a clamped on rubber one and not a metal threaded one right?

Yes, rubber clamped on one.

Lots of folks from Madison online, just not a lot online and into keeping their cars clean. I actually think I saw another guy on the forum from Madison, or it might be the other forum I frequent, can't remember.

I always removed the hose(s) but never painted the area where the hose would reattatch (masking taped it off). I've seen some people paint over the threaded type metal tubing and then it is always a pain to work on later.
