PC says 5-inch, autopia says 6?

Hi,

My new PC says "use 5 inch pad only" on its counter weight, but autopia sells the SFX kit which is supposed to work with the PC 7424 and the backing plate is 6 inches. Will it work? Do I need a different counterweight, or should I shop for a 5 inch velcro backing plate and 5 inch pads?

My 7424 works just fine with both 5 and 6 inch backing plates-and I prefer the 6 since it puts more even pressure on the pads.

You could get the 6" counterweight if you want. I got both when I bought my 7424 and I have never used the 5". I put the 6" one in right away and use it with my 6.5" pads and 4" pads.

a little off topic.....? what do you fellas do for the vibration and i do have the six inch counterweight but i dont use the handle...i get a uncomfortable sensation throughtout my hands to my arms...do you get use to it wear gloves, etc...

Some people are more sensitive to the vibration than are others. If it bothers you, I'd use some vibration-reducing gloves or something to keep it tolerable. "White finger" is a serious business and I sure wouldn't want somebody to have permanent nerve/tissue damage over detailing car.

What I do is simply not use the PC for long periods of time. I'll either use the rotary or the Cyclo for any job that's gonna take a long time. Seems an OK solution (at least for me) as the PC isn't really that great for aggressive work anyhow and that's what usually takes the most time.
