What coes in these Pc kits from DC or others? I know a PC, but always a hook and Latch pad? 5" or 6"? Is a counter weight included in all kits? Pads? CCS, then or thick pads, Maybe Edge pads with adapter? Polishes or paint cleaners are not necessary in the kit. Heres what I want: PC, 6" hook and loop pad, 6" counter weight, 2 polishing pads, 2 light cutting pads, 2 medium cut pads, 1 heavy cut pad, pad treatment and finally pad cleaner. NO polishes, abrasives, waxes, or sealants. Well aybe some PwS. Im going to also use the PC for sanding on my IH Scout with hook and latch sand paper. As you cansee its real late here tonight as the work that needs done has y head spinning as where to purchase a PC. Thanks for your coments and helping make this decision for me. RANDAL

From your thread it reads as if you know what you want and need for the PC. I concur with everything that you listed. I know that I have a 7424 PC with a five inch weight, but use six inch hook and loop pads after my original five inch hook and loop pad wore out and died. I have never felt the need to replace the counter weight on my PC. Although I understand that if I did change the weight that I would get less vibration. The counter weight is relatively easy to change...so I am told.

A few years ago I purchased all the items that you are looking for from a non forum member supplier. I would not go thru that route now. First off ease of access. The use of a forum sponsor gives you direct access to them if the need arises. Ten per cent forum discount is another reason. Taking advantage of the holiday sales could give you further discounts. Detail City has 15% off gift certificates at the moment. I know that I purchased a gift certificate to use after the first of the year. The last reason that I would not go the route that I choose a few years ago is the fact that the size of your order will most likely get you free shipping. It all costs and adds up. This alone can be a 10% increase in your purchase.....or more depending on what you purchase.

Your requirements for pad selection would vary based on how vehicles you plan on doing at a time and what you want to use the PC for. Typically, you only really need a light cutting pad, a few polishing pads and a finishing pad or two.

I'm a big fan of lake Country pads, so I'll speak about them. I'd get at least one Orange Light Cutting Pad. It is great for tackling medium to heavier swirls with products like Poorboy's SSR2.5, Optimum Compound or Menzerna Intensive (or Super Intensive) Polish. The White Polishing Pads are your workhorse pads and the ones you'll use most often. They have enough cut to tackle medium to light swirls while finishing down nicely. They also work well with All In One type products. Finally, a Black Finishing or Blue Final Finishing pad would be good for waxes, sealants and glazes.

The larger counterweight is nice to have, but not 100% necessary. Also, all backing plates have a hook and loop backing. The exception would be Edge's Quick Change System.
