PC Procedure and product lineup

Hello. I hang out on Superhonda's detailing forum and finally found you guys. Good to be among fellow enthusiasts. I just bought the PC 7336 and the accessory kit from Meguiars. I was thinking of this procedure.

-Clay.

-Meguiars Clear Coat Prep and Swirl Reducer OR Scratch X (which one?) applied with the yellow polishing pad

-Meguair's #7 Polish with yellow polishing pad, rub our w/MF towel

-Meguiars Gold Class Wax with the Finishing pad, rub our w/MF towel

I also have the Ultimate Bonnet, should I use this on the car when I'm done?

The paint is Cypres Green Pearl, and I've maintained it by hand with the above products since it was new (1998)

Thanks in advance for the input.

Sounds good. Allow me to offer one suggestion:

If you're gonna use Gold Class, skip the #7 step. #7 glaze is mostly oils and fillers designed to be used just before a pure wax finisher (like Meguiar's #26). Gold Class has a good amount of polish in it and will essentially remove the #7. In other words, you will be wasting product and time if you follow #7 with Gold Class.

So, one or the other. The polish step #1 is fine. Use the mildest product first.

Are you going to clay the car first? Check you paint for surface contaminents by rubbing you hand over the paint lightly. If you feel any roughness, use clay to remove the surface crud first. Then do your polish and GC.

Good luck, have fun, let us know how it comes out.

And welcome to Autopia.:D

Welcome...

There are several posts about this, and the "Mayor" of this site

had a sections in his book..

I use the yellow pads for cleaning products, I also use yellow for my polish (i use different ones for cleaning and polishing. I have about 6 yellow pads.. ) and swirl remover,

I use purple pad for fine cut and other products that needs some breaking down..

For my wax, i do this by hand...

Check out the search feature and you'll find alot of good stuff..

Thanks guys. Yes I did a search on Porter Cable in this forum....hahah that's where I've been for the last 2 hours! Lots of info.

bretfraz: I'm kinda shocked at your reply? I've always been told to polish and then wax, and I've been using #7 to polish followed by Gold Class Wax to protect, both by hand. You're saying this is redundant? I don't want to eliminate #7 polish because I get great results with it. But I still want to protect after I wax. Should I stop waxing with GC and use #26? Thanks again in advance for the tips.
