PC: polish/pad combinations

I'm going to take my first shot at PC'ing my car over the next few days; it's pretty swirled (I've been doing everything wrong till now!!). I've got the PC, CMA DM kit, and some 3M SMR & FI II.



I plan on starting out most conservatively:



SMR and a white pad



if that doesn't fix the swirls, what should be my next step:



SMR and yellow pad, or

FI II and a white pad?



Not sure which combo is the next step in aggressiveness.



If I have to go to the FI II (on either a white pad, or if it's really bad, FI II on a yellow pad), I *will* have to go back & follow up with SMR on a white pad, right?

I tried the PC on my car for the first time this weekend and started out with the white CMA pad w/SMR and I was getting results, but not as good as I hoped. I then changed to the yellow CMA pad w/SMR and voila! The yellow pad with one application did the work of two to three applications with the white pad. I think I'm going to do the rest of the car with one application of SMR w/yellow pad, and then one application of SMR w/white pad.



I didn't have to break out the FI-II.
