PC pad maintenance

Did a search, and as they say "that's a little too much information" especially when it's contradictory. What is the proper way to care for these. Some say wash them in Dawn, then spin them dry. Others say just brush them off and stick them in an unsealed ziplock bag. It's all very very confusing. I'm very confused! Got my pad kit from Autopia today, with the 3 pads and flexible backing plate. So if I relugate the white pad to strictly polish, can it be used with DACP adn with say Deep Crystal polish, or do I need one for each? Same question for the gray, if I use it to apply #7 Show Car glaze(hey, I'm getting good at these numbers eh?), can I use the same on fro applying NXT wax, as long as I wash them in between. With as many products as I have out there, I would need 10 pads if each needs their own???????????

I see nothing wrong with washing pads, indeed you'd have loads if you used only one per polish. Always wash by hand, it's your call whether or not to spin dry them or just let them sit and dry naturally. FWIW, I use Dawn with very good results.

I use 2 pads. When one gets dirty I goto the sink and wet it and put a little dish soap on it in a circle pattern. I then work it in by hand, adding water as needed to make it sud city. It lifts out everything and leave a fresh pad. I then rinse out all the soap (easier said then done). To do this i hold the pad upright under the running water and slowly work my way down the pad without turning it. The point is to keep pushing the soap down until its all gone. If you keep turning the pad your only pushing the soap over areas you just squeezed out. After that I give it a few good squeezes (the glue on my CMA pads is incredibly strong and has not loosened up at all). Lastly I spin dry on the PC on 6. I then let it sit out in the sun while I'm at work using the 2nd pad. When that pad gets dirty, clean that and use the freshly clean/dried pad. I repeat this cycle many times when doing the job making sure always to have a clean pad. 2 pads (of each color)is all I need for ANY job.

A dirty pad to me is one that was just used on a particular panel especially if it hasn't been spurred in between passes ( if you use a rotary). I always wash or use a fresh pad before moving onto the next panel but that could be a little overkill :o
