I was just at lowes looking at the pc7336 and saw a porter cable sander that had both rotary and orbital rotation at up to 8000 rpm that is run off air. I am thinking of getting this and an air compressor because it would be easier for me swince I wash at the do it yourself was. Any thoughts?

As long as you can adjust the speed your all set. People usally never pass 1000 rpm, it's not safe and you can fix just about anything with that speed or less.

If your local spray bay doesnt mind you spending half a day there with a compressor going then I would say go for it. It will probaly make alot of noise though .... something to consider.

I thought I could get a decent size tank and fill the tank at home, then it would only have to fill itself once or twice more. Although I am not sure exactly how compressors work, if they have to be plugged in full time or the tank just has to have enough pressure in it. If I used an invertor I thought I might be able to get away with it. After further thought though I decided this was just somemore wishful thinking on my part and am probably going to go with a regular pc and run an extension cord. Thanks anyway guys.
