PC Beginners Questions?????

I wish . . .
I'm considering purchasing a PC this weekend and would appreciate some advice. I understand that it is the "safest" machine for beginners, but do not understand some of the terminology or purpose of many of the things I've read about here. For example: Counterweight?
Backing Pads - different types, sizes?
Foam Pads vs Bonnets?
Just how much do I need to start?
I plan to use it to work on a new CR-V and a 20 yr. old Civic Wagon. Both have CC finishes in Beige Metallic.
Please answer ASAP so I can take advantage of Dwayne's 15% coupon this weekend.

Wow, thanks - I love the "roadfly" forum, but some of the pictures are "broken" - any ideas?

PS - is that a "roadfly" in your avatar?
