PC Backing plate (yellow molded) Exploded!?!?

Well, my yellow butyl/flexible/molded yellow backing plate came apart in all its glory this eveving.

It had started to unbond about 1/4" section on the outer perimeter, where the main rubber overlaps the edge of the center puck. So, I used some 3M Weather Strip adhesive (aka, "yellow death") to bond it back. I also ran a bead the entire circumference in an effort to reinforce the entire backing plate.

Now, tonight, I'm working with a 5" backing plate, with the proper pad (5.5", w/5" velcro area), on my PC (equipped with proper counterweight)...using SSR 2.5/light pressure. I feel the vibration come back and shut down/pull away.

Well, the backing plate tore a bit on the side and unbonded about 3/4 of the way around. There is no glue underneath, so I assume that it was merely relying on being molded and bonded on this thin edge.

At any rate, this sucks because I have a hood that is half done and no stores are open tomorrow.

So, my options are to glue it back with any of the following:

"hot" CA glue (thin, fast curing, usually melts rubber to plastic permanently)

3M weather strip adhesive (already failed on the edges, it tore NEXT to the glue, but the glue held).

Shoe Goo (clear, silicone-like, gets about 90% hard, but remains slightly flexible)

Dev-Con 2-ton clear epoxy.

So what do?

Has anyone else had this happen?

Thanks.
