PC backing pad

Went to Lowe's yesterday, 7336 PC fell into the basket :-)

Since I have to place an order with coastaltools anyways, thought I'd order a backing pad from them, but I was wondering which backing pad to get. The 18002 contour pad is the one packaged with the coastaltool 7424 offer, but I've noticed the guide at this site mentions the 18001 standard pad. My guess is it's "whatever one you're used to", but thought I'd check before I ordered. Any comments?

Thanks much

ernie

PS The guy at Lowe's (Garland, TX) mentioned that they were cutting back on their Porter-Cable line, in favor of Delta products (same ownership)......he wasn't aware that they had the 7336 anymore, but they did. Don't know if this just applies to our local Lowe's, or if this guy was not informed correctly, just thought I'd pass that along.

Last time I checked, you could get a Meguiar's velcro backing plate, two polishing pads and one finishing pad for $32.95 plus $8.95 shiiping.

It is not shown on their web-site.

If you call 800-445-3321 and ask about the kit I mentioned, it should be WDAV99. Regardless of what some people may say about the Meguiar's reps, I think they will be able to help you.

Or if you're cheap like me, you can find a good 6" diameter adhesive-backed velcro circle...

(It worked for so many years... results may vary, though. Don't get the velcro near the paint!!!)

Go to topoftheline and get the 6" velcro backing plate along with some 7.5" Lake Country Pads. The Lake Country Pads are what I use and are highly regarded by a lot of the people here as well. Get at least two each of the pads you plan to use. At minimum, get 2 yellow (cutting) and 2 white (polishing). If you plan to apply wax or sealants with your PC then get a black ones too.

You won't be sorry you got the PC! Best money I spent so far!

Good luck,

JP
