PC arrived, practiced, need tips and tricks

I've done two vehicles. I'm very happy with EVERYTHING.

However, I have some newbie questions.

When doing a 2 X 2 section, so you can check your work, where do you set the PC down?

How do you carry your polish, glaze, wax when applying it to the pc (Again 2 X 2 ) and making your way around the vehicle? And microfiber for that matter.

Thanks to all the businesses that sent me products! (I hope I didn't break the rules.)

I don't usually set the PC down. I usually where some baggy short with pockets that allow me to stuff the MF and 2 oz bottle of polish inside. Hold PC >> Add Polish >> Return polish to pocket >> polish car >> remove MF >> wipe >> Inspect >> Add polish >> repeat.

I don't like to set the PC down everytime I need to wipe the car down. People do things very different. I would suggest you find what works fro you. JUst experiment. It's half the fun when exploring a new obsession.. I mean hobbie!

After working a section of the car, I'll put the PC on a towel ( to keep it from tipping over) on the ground/table/chair with the pad facing up. The bottles stay in a small tote I bought from Target. And if they don't fit in the tote, they're on shelves in the garage or tool chest. The bottle in use comes around with me and I just put it on the ground. My MFs stay inside a plastic container with a lid until I need one.

Personally, I just set it down on it's back (pad facing up) and wipe the surface. As for products, technically you only need to carry around 2 products (1 polish and water/quick detailer). You should only be using 1 product per pad.

So whenever I change pads, I replace the bottle I'm carrying. If you are up for it, it's a great idea to dispense product to a smaller squeezable bottle. That way, if you drop it, you don't ruin your entire supply and end up with a smaller mess. Another good idea is too get one of those "cleaning" caddys with the handle in the middle on compartments on either side made of plastic. Nice and light, carries a tonne of supplies if you not detailing in a garage.

I dropped a near new bottle of Meguiars Hand Polish one time and let me tell ya, man was I upset at myself. Then the clean up :hairpull - polish everywhere. Nice and oily too boot.

I set my PC down on its back. I usually set it on top of one of my plastic storage boxes just in case it were to tip over.

I used to set the PC down into its original box like this...until I got my storage boxes and threw away the original.

I use meguiar's "ultimate organizer".

I usually have a few pads,a few different polishs,a few micro fibers, and some detail spray. It has various pockets along the outside and sits on wheels.

Usually when I'm using my pc I'm sitting in my creeper seat so I just pull the organizer around with me as I move around the car. II'm sure there are other similar products you could use but for $35 I thought it was worth it.

Well, here's my redneck solution. I keep a milk crate handy and I can set the actual PC on its side with the pad dangling off in the air and check my progress/wipe down with MF, and then pick back up and take off. It works for me, and I can sit on the milk crate and/or stand on it as needed. Thanks Borden!!

That actually sounds like a good idea.

krsjuan, do the casters have locks/brakes of some kind. I wouldn't want the organizer to roll into a car or out in the street. Some of the driveways around here have a bit of an incline.

Unfortunately no it doesn't. :(

Luckily I have a flat driveway so I've never had to really worry about that.
