PC Alternative

Hi all, I have polished cars by hand, but after reading here PC's are a better method, I am looking to get one. The only problem we cannot get Porter Cable here in Australia.

What would be a good alternative?? I am assuming I need a Random orbital buffer is this correct??

We have a big orbital grinder type thing, but it has an ugly wool head on it, and I think it would lead to swirl city, would be ok?

Cheers,

Clint

I can't really tell you, but I think there is another popular machine here, a Makita (?) maybe?

I have a turtle wax one that I got from my grandparents and I'm afraid to use it :(

That's the Mak I have as well. I use very often, and

have not been disappointed. The only downside

is that the backing plate is semi-permanent, so you

can't really replace the size of the plate. Upside, is

that it is pretty durable, will not bog down under

applied pressure like a PC would, and you get

both random orbit, and low speed random orbit

with "forced" rotation- in this mode, the machine

rotates and does orbiting operation at the same

time.
