I'm no math wizard, but I would imagine that the best deal would be the best deal. lol Just go for the one that gives you what you need for the best price. You've already done a lot of homework, so now its just a matter of choosing. It will be the same tool no matter where you buy it, so just go for the package that gives you the tool and products you need.

i'm just trying to stay under $200 w/ shipping
i also don't know enough about the different pads
i've researched alot and see alot of people prefer the LC pads which come with the kits from autogeek
i am only going to be using them for my '04 F150 and '04 Mustang
i don't want to over purchase and have 5 different pads and only really need 2

Jngrbrdman, i've seen alot of your posts and you have some great info, thanks

thanks to everyone else that can help me in making the right decision

i was kinda leaning toward the SFX kit because of the discount
with shipping it will run around $160
i just haven't seen alot about the pads and what i have seen everyone seems to be prefering something over the SFX

I purchased mine seperately. You buy what you feel you can afford. I purchased the PC7424 fro the Porter Cable Outlet. www.portercableoutlet.com Currently their price is $127.74 new and $107.46 for a reconditioned one. As for pads I purchased the Edge 2000 system, the 6 inch counterweight and the adapter from Premium Auto.

Go to your local Lowes, by the porter cable 7336 for ~$100. Buya backing plate and some pads. Much cheaper IMO this way. 7424 and 7336 are the same except accessory difference (dont let anyone else tell you otherwise, i got that info straight from porter cable.)

I believe the 7424 comes with the 5" CW and the 7336 has the 6". Other than the CWs, they're both exactly the same machine. As far as pads go, that would be determined by the condition of your vehicle's surface as well as the products you intend to use. For starters, I would just get a polishing pad and a finishing pad and order pads as the need arises.

I just bought a PC myself. I got the version sold at Lowes for $99. I figure since just about all the detailing websites are selling the PC for $129 it will be cheaper to buy the machine at Lowes and get the pads on-line since most of the pad & PC kits only discount the package by around $10-$20.

I did the same thing only it cost me 109 at lowes....i think its a better deal because you dont have to wait for it and you dont have to pay ne shipping. iit comes with one polishing pad.... you can get 3 pads and a backing plate for like 30 $ :goodluck:

i wished you would have posted that about 1 week ago
i already ordered that kit form autogeek, and had to pay for shipping
oh well it was shipped fast, but could have save about $15 to 20
i hope those prices helped some other people make decisions
thanks everyone

A little late, but I made this for another forum I go to. I think its the cheapest route to go. $220 for PC, BP, pads, Optimum Polish, Compound, Wax, Pinnacle Signature Series and some good MFs. Pretty banging deal if I must say so myself. :punk:

Jackal, I just looked up the item number on Lowes web site (Item 51472), and the price is $69.97, not $94.97. Is you price info old, or do you still get that price based on your zip code?

Interesting.
It is $109 on the Lowe's site I visited and nothing about free shipping.

I just put together that list yesterday, so I think the price info is up to date, maybe it varies from area to area?

When you search the item # does the PC still come up as being $69.97? If so thats probably the best price i've ever seen for a new PC combined with free shipping, I would definately buy it.

Charles, thats really strange, I have no idea why there would be such differences between a chain store like Lowes. Just now I typed in www.lowes.com and on the homepage on the right it says free parcel shipping.

You are right about the free shipping. I missed that the first time.
The site where the PC is $109 is here.
A $40 difference is quite a regional variance.
Like Jackal said, better buy one at the $69 price. Maybe several for Christmas gifts.

Charles

If I just go to www.lowes.com and enter 51472 in the search box, I get the price $69.97. I also get that price if I follow the link Charles posted.

The first time I went to their web site I had to enter my zip code before I got any pricing. I guess the pricing is local, but surprising that it varies so much. $69 is alot different from $109.

I also get the "Free Parcel Shipping" link on the homepage.

If you clear cookies on your machine, and then went back to lowes.com and enter a Milwaukee zip code (53202) as your zip code, I bet you would get the better pricing. :present:

Just changing the Zip to 53202 gave me the store price of $69.
Lowe's Milwaukee
I'm tempted to order another one at that price.
