PC 7424 w/6.5 pads??

Okay guys,



Im getting my PC 7424 today. What size of pads do I need? 6" or 6.5"? Oh and what type of polisher,sealeant, wax do I needed. Sorry, if this been asked before, I tried to search cant find them.

Ken, sorry I just noticed no one replied to your post yet. Sometimes when members get busy a question such as yours gets overlooked.



Either 6" or 6.5" pads will work fine, as long as you're using a 5" backing plate. Here are three sources for pads and plates:

The type of polish will depend on if you need to remove any paint defects (swirls, scratches, etc.) and how severe they are.



Waxes and sealers depend on many factors: color of paint, how long you want them to last, ease of application/removal, etc. It may be best to look around in the "Click and Brag" to see what others are using. Some use just a wax, some use just a sealer, and some of us use a sealer and then top it with a wax. Just depends on what look you're trying to achieve.



One of my favorite combos is ClearKote Vanilla Moose (very light polish/glaze) topped with Poorboy's EX (dark colors) or EX-P (light colors). You can also top this combo off with a carnauba wax such as Natty's, Meg's #16, or any number of other fine waxes that are available. klnyc- Yeah, the 5" backing plate gives a bit of safety margin between the edge of the plate and the paint since the foam pad overhangs it. You can use 6.5" pads with a 6" plate without worry, but the 6"/6" combo is a bit touchy for some people. FWIW I generally use the 5 "flex" plate with these pads.



Simple approach to polishes- 3M PI-III RC (pn 05933) and MG (pn 05937). These work well by PC/hand/rotary and will handle most problems.



For sealants/waxes you can also look into Klasse and Collinite.

Hi and thanks for the warmly reply. I ordered the Sonus DAS kit from here. It has a 6" backin plate too. The PC kit that I ordered from Coastal tools it also came with a 5" and 6" counter weight and backing plate woohoo. I also ordered AIO twins, I can't wait till this weekend and test it out.
