PBs Wheel Sealant, is it worth it?

I say you're just as well off using a typical polymer/acrylic paint sealant. AIO/WGx2 got me over 3 months of flawless protection on my summer wheels last fall. They wiped clean with car soap and zero effort...I couldn't have asked for anything better.

I use PBs wheel sealant. Think it is a good product.

I get good results with with your combo also.

I would choose the wheel sealant. Why...am not sure? Guess that I like a designated product for the wheels. Sure is not scientific.

I like PB Wheel Sealant, but haven't used Collonite on my wheels yet.

Seems like the responses say save your bucks, but honestly, WS isn't a bad product by any means.

Anything you use to protect your wheels is better than nothing(at least polymers/synthetics)

I use PBs wheel sealant, and it works really well....And it's really cost-effective, since you use so little product per application.

Yes I have. This works very well too! In fact I have put Zaino on everything but the exhaust and muffler. But I still use the wheel sealant. My 5 year old Little Detailer would not have any fun with out the bubble gum wheel sealant product that we put on together.

I typically used Zaino as well.

Can you recomend anything for the insides of the rims? Spring is coming and I want to take all the tires off and really clean those mothers.

I havent bought the colinite but I want to this fall before next winter. From what I hear its not really much of a gloss or appearnce wax but more of a protectant.

There is all the reason you need to use it :bigups

For protection or cleaning? Any sealant will work fine on the wheels, or a durable wax like Collinite.

To clean sealed wheels, you only need car soap and water. The brake dust should wipe right off. If they aren't sealed, you'll need a wheel cleaner and probably a wheel brush as well.

If it were me going to all the work to take the wheels off, clean them, and protect them I would definitely use a dedicated wheel sealant. My wheel sealant of choice would be PB's Wheel Sealant.

Im still trying to understand why anyone feels the need for a dedicated wheel sealant. If Poorboys or anyone else had a wheel sealant that's as durable as 845 or Z2 don't you think they would have a "paint" sealant that's just as durable?

I have used Zaino on my wheels and it didn't do as well as I had expected...after a couple of weeks I started to see spots and oxidization on my polished/uncoated wheels.

I used PB wheel sealant I got about 2 months before any sign of discoloration..

Here is the review I did:

pbws.jpg

Application:

Easy to apply: wipe on - let it haze - buff off

3 Coats applied consecutively about a month and a half ago to my polished uncoated Boss 301's.

About 2 weeks after I applied the coats it rained here for about 2 -3 weeks and I hadn't washed my truck until now.

Protection, clean up, appearance -

Sorry forgot to take any before pics but I've been driving in the rain for the last 3 wks so they were covered with 3 weeks of dirt, road grime, brake dust.

Washed with Meguiars NXT soap - Cleaned up very easy with just the soap.

After washing I sprayed some Spray and Wipe and did a quick wipe down with a MF. I only noticed a few small spots of discoloration everything else was still very shiny and no oxidization present.

Minimal if any loss of slickness - very close to the slickness of when it was applied.

Conclusion:

Very easy to use and over a month of protection was more then I expected. It has proven itself in the cold and rain so I'll be interested to see how it holds up to the heat in the summer months.

IMO This is a great product for anyone who has polished uncoated wheels to help protect them and keep them looking their best.

I'll update this in the summer months and see how it holds up to the heat.

Here are some shots...

2 Month update

It's been 2 months with just the initial 3 coats of Wheel Sealant and after cleaning them today I noticed some slight oxidization, spots and marring.

2 months of protection in the winter rain and dirt, doing nothing more then washing them, is more then I could hope for...great sealant for cleared or uncoated wheels.

It's hard to get a shot of the oxidization because it's very slight but here is a before and after showing the marring and oxidization:

I have wondered this before and asked the question and gotten nowhere. If Pb's WS is so good, why don't people use it on their paint? As has been stated many times here, most wheels are painted/CC just like the other painted surfaces of your car (hell, one of my cars even has the wheels painted the same color as the body). I'm not arguing this, just inquiring.

What would you think would be the best combo on the wheels I have ? they are mostly aluminum with painted cc inside the slots. these things are a pain to keep clean. I use PB WS and it does well but maybe somebody else has some ideas :think2 I use it because of it's ease of use in the tight spots.

Thanks Blk Yukon. Your review was one of the reasons that I decided to use the wheel sealant.

Your process, pic's, results, and comments are/were good enough to sway me. I like the results that the wheel sealant provides for my wheels.
