PB's Wheel Cleaner Review

Well I found the perfect candidate to test out my new sample of PB’s Wheel Cleaner, this is the more aggressive version of the product.

The subject is a Volvo XC that gets it’s wheels cleaned whenever it gets a ride through a car wash, which according to the owner was in the spring sometime. The wheels were very grimy and hot, she just drove 45 minutes, the spray was sizzling when it hit the rotors.

I sprayed all 4 wheels, waited 1-2 minutes and brushed them with a soft Oxo wheel brush. The dirt, brake dust and grime just separated itself from the wheels, effortlessly. So effortlessly that the time stamp on my before and after pictures is only 8 minutes difference. Wow what a diff an 8 minute project can have on the appearance of a car.

A nice benefit is that there is no overpowering chemical odor with this product. I like this product much better than a gel that I was using, the Gel required a lot of water to get all the soap off and the cleaning power was less then the PB’s

Here are some pics

Wow so its very safe / user friendly / cleans well? Dang! I thought gel was better too. I will leave it for a more scrubbing surface. Maybe another product to buy.

Can I assume you can use the product on Hot Wheels?? If not - then don't spray em - sizziling rotors is not a good thing - you can warp them if you cool them unaturally.

What's up with the centercap? Where'd the "VOLVO" go? Maybe just the angle of the camera, but it looks like it's gone.

I would love to try this stuff...I didn't really have the oppertunity at the detailing day due to the fact that my car was already clean. However I tend to be extreamly anal about keeping my wheels clean... To the point where I take my wheels off to do a full detail on them!

Just how thick is the Gel? Does it dry quickly? I typicly use some regular car wash soap diluted with a little water and spray down all the wheels and go back to wheel 1 and then do the full wash down by hand and then rinse and move on to the next! Can this product stay on each wheel for 3-5 mins or does it need to be removed faster?

Will it remove wax/sealent ect?

Can it be diluted ?

How much product was necessary to acheive the results we are seeing in the givin picture (All things considered that wheel wasn't in that bad shape. My sister-in-laws Ford Focus has 1 full year worth of brake dust/dirt ect that would be a test of the product!)

Last question ...I didn't get to snort any...does it smell good? Is it going to give me the munchies like the rest of the PB's line?

yeah, it does look like some of the emblem is gone.

Here are some answers:

Are you beta testing the wheel cleaner? Either Beta or Alpha

It is not a Gel it is a mist on cleaner

The picture is at almost the same angle, camera setting identical, I do not have the car outside to check it out but will try to get an answer later.

I do not think a mist of a wheel cleaner will warp a brake rotor, they are designed to be immersed in puddles when red hot. Imagine driving in the summer and a T-Storm hits !!

Used very little product, total used to spray 4 wheels was 2 oz, so 1/2 oz per wheel.

It smells like Fantastic cleaner

PB's Wheel Cleaner I cant wait I need a good wheel cleaner and right now everything I use is PB. Stick to what works. I gotta break out the credit soon.

I am not sure if a misting wheel cleaner will warp them or not, but I do know of a guy who washed his wheels when they were hot. He sprayed the rotors with the hose water, and it caused the rotors to be out of round. It made the whole car shake and vibrate when stopping. So it is possible and an area we should pay attention to when cleaning.

Typicly it does say on wheel cleaner bottles to be sure the wheels are cool!

What is the intention of this product? Is it a Spray on Spray off product or you suposed to use wash it down w/ a brush/spounge?

If it is left on the wheels will it damage the finnish?

Do they plan on making it smell good?(it wouldn't really be a PB's product if it didn't)

Which PB wheel cleaner did you use? He has two that are in development. Was it green or yellow/orange?

I tested the green version which is the heavier duty of the 2.

Can this stuff be purchased by the gallon,
Neither of the Poorboy's wheel cleaners are available for purchase... yet. They are still in the prototype stage.
