PB's PwS on black finishing pad?

Just curious (since I hope to get to wash the car and polish it this weekend), but what would PwS on a Lake Country black finishing pad do? I plan to wash, clay, polish with Meg's Ultimate Compound (white LC polishing pad), then I wsa thinking of getting a super fine finish with the PwS on a finishing pad, then top with EX-P for my LSP.

Is the extra step of the PwS worth it?

Thanks,
Neil

I would say definitely worth it but I would use a white polishing pad to run the PWS and use the black pad to apply the EX-P.

Depending on how the finish looks after the compounding, then I'd probably follow Dave's advice here. Compounds are pretty rough and if there is hazing, you will need the PwS on a white polishing pad to remove the marring. If there is no marring / haze then you could possibly go straight to a black finishing pad :)

I bought the PwS for my wife's new CRV, specifically because the car has only very light swirls - not worth the time to do a separate polish step, but I could not stand not trying to do something with them. So, I did a test run just on the hood using a white pad, PC7424 on about 3. This combo definitely cut the light swirls, but I was not happy w/ the finish. I was trying some other things out, and had no more room on the hood to test, but next time I will use the PwS w/ a black pad or possibly even blue pad.

so, if I do the Meg's, then PwS, do I need to wait 24 hours for the sealant in the PwS to cure before adding on the EX-P?

cool. thanks for the quick reply PB. hope to get wash, clay, polish w/megs, and PwS done tomorrow, then follow up with EX-P Sunday. I think the weather will hold out and I finally don't have to work on a weekend :rockon

alright, productive day. out at 8:30, got the car washed, completely clayed, and polished with Meg's Ultimate everything except the lower side skirts and the front bumper. had to wrap it up at 2:30 to run some errands and over a friend's for dinner

tomorrow, a quick s&w, finish polishing the car with meg's, follow up with PwS, then top with EX-P.

That should get the exterior a good start for the winter (a wax topper of the EX-P to follow).

Next weekend, interior!! :yay Got some PB's APC to try out. diluted right now 30:1 in a bottle, might also make a 15:1 mix too.
