PB S&W or QEW in Bottle - quickest

Help me decide from your experiences on what my between-washes routine should be, keeping time in mind foremost, with cost being second. Sometimes I might let my vehicles get to a heavier road dust/grime state before doing anything.

I think I remember reading where some have mixed QEW in a spray bottle and used it in a manner like PB Spray and Wipe. Does this work OK? Also, if S&W is the better route, where's the cheapest place to purchase through?

Thanks for the help. I'm at a point in my life where time to do vehicle maintenance is at a minimum.

Timewise, I'm able to use S&W faster than QEW. Mainly because it's only a bottle and MF. QEW requires me to pull out a bucket or two, a couple of chenille sponges, terry towels, MFs, etc. Then the process of washing and drying with QEW is longer than a simple S&W.

Depending on the level of dirtyness, I'll use S&W when there's barely any dirt, QEW for mildly dirty and a classic 2 bucket wash when it beyond QEW.

Time has been a major factor for me this year as well.

doublel - are you saying that you use S&W or QEW in the winter on salt and such? How dirty of a car do you use S&W on?

I'll use QEW in the Winter when the car is coated heavy from salt. I can do S&W on some pretty nasty salt but you end up with streaking as some of the white salt residue will not be gotten on the first pass and you'll end up doing it twice, so QEW ends up quicker in those situations for me.

It's always hard to decribe how dirty a car to use S&W, but if dirt or material is caked on then I reach for a hose to spray the heavy material off first then either QEW or S&W to finish it off depending on the amount of dirt after the hosing. A lot of times I'll just need to hose off the lower panels and wheel wells, then go straight to S&W. :xyxthumbs

If I do S&W after hosing off all the caked on dirt and debris, I'll use two or three PB's mega plush towels if the car is still wet from the hosing because they'll absorb the water, remaining dirt and S&W product really well.

Man I dilluted my QEW in a ghetto way. It work like a charm..I use to spray door jambs, trunk lid, etc.

Has anybody mixed up the QEW concoction in a bottle and gone that route with any success?

I haven't used QEW myself, but I remember reading that the method that you have mentioned is NOT something that you want to do.

ghetto way? I just dumped in like SnW mixed with QEW nd with some h2o. I just use it to tested out, sofar it work.

S&W is definitely the quicker way to go but I would not use it on a very dirty vehicle. QEW is probably better for a more dirty vehicle but then I would be using it mixed in a gallon of water.

S&W is really nice for a quick clean up where there's not heavy dirt. A couple of ounces of S&W will do most vehicles.

I can imagine that many here probably define how dirty their care is differently than myself. Is there a thread or "rule of thumb" that helps differentiate the levels of "dirtiness?"

Can it be broken into only three levels, with:

1 = light dust and some road grime that can be seen at an angle to the panel

2 = road grime that can definitely be seen at all angles with the occassional tree sap spot or bird bomb

3 = very heavy road grime that might even include some dirt/sand splashed onto the panels from the tires

If the above is valid, what would you guys use for each? The program I go with will be used summer and winter. I'm WAY more lax about a clean car in the winter since it'll get trashed probably the very next day again and I'm relying on my sealant. The occassional PB S&W or QEW will happen, but winter is usually for the automated touchless wash.

Thanks

#1 is easy for S&W.

#2 you can still go with the S&W but more work - prefer QEW mixed in a bucket

#3 I prefer to do full 2 bucket wash with hose.

As you have noted though everyone has their own opinions and some may be comfortable using QEW for all 3 categories while others would never use S&W or QEW on their cars. There have been several threads about QEW and some tend to use it on fairly heavy dirt.

Well I was the one (if not one of) the peeps who started a thread about using QEW mixed up in a Spray Bottle with water. Some said it wasn't meant be used that way others said it shouldn't be a probelm.

I still use it that way for a lightly dirty car when hauling out buckets and water really isn't required.

I just bought a gallon of QEW, and noticed a suggestion on the bottle to mix up qew/water in a spray bottle for small jobs and "quick touch-ups on your vehicles". So, I don't see a problem as long as the car isn't filthy. :)
