Part-time detailers

Who out there is a part-time detailer?

What products do you use on your customers cars?

What is your basic procedure?

What do you do about scheduling on a part-time basic?

What do you work out of?



I work out of my one car garage and use mostly Meguiar's stuff and only work on the weekend.



I am thinking of renting a bay(2 deep) from my buddy hopely around $200-$300 a month and make more time durning the week to do cars. Right now I do about 5-6 cars a month, I would like to double that. What do you guys think and or suggestions?

I also use Meguiar's products, some EO, and some 3M (mostly just SMR).



I only do people who are referred by friends. I do maybe 4 or 5 a month. Most of the cars I have done required the full meal deal -- dawn, clay, SMR, #20, etc.



I will pick up the cars as part of my service, but I work out of my one car garage also.



I think the main thing to consider is what you say in your sig. Once it becomes a job, you have to treat it like one. Therefore, I decided that I will do more than one day a week, as I already have a 60 hour per week full time job.

I am a firefighter, and have a detailing venture on the side.

I am open from April 1st through October 31st. I have opened earlier and stayed open later, depending on this wonderful New England weather!



The dates I detail depends on my Fire Department work schedule (we work 2 days, 2 nights, then have 4 days off)





I have been requested to detail on Sunday. I will not, because I already work enough Sundays at the firehouse in the rotation.



I use Meguiar's Professional line of products, 3M and Mothers, depending on the vehicle. I get most of my supplies from an auto body supply jobber (they give me a discount)



I have a two car attached garage and work out of there. I have also gone "on the road" on occasion to detail.
