Painting Airbag cover

Hello all,

Its me again with yet another question. I own a 95 acura integra and have had an ongoing problem for years. The cover on the steering wheel airbags paint is chipping off. This has been getting worse over the years and I was told it was a defect but a recall was never instituted.

Anyways, Im looking to lighly sand and paint it, hopefully a close match to its original color. I saw some interior paints at pep boys for this application but Im not sure how well it works. Has anyone seen or experienced this before and if so what did you do?

TIA

I used the interior dye/paint on plastics before. Generally you no not have to use any prep for the surface other than just to make sure it is clean. The way the stuff works is that it seeps into the pores of the plastic and stays in there. So if u have some over spray eventually it will seep into the plastic and it disappear.
